362: Why O Royal Treasure

~Why ?~

Some of you, my lovely readers, can relate to this.  Why have I got so many followers ?  Over 3000 to date !  I reckon that there are less than 200 who actually visit, comment, like or hit my blog.  To the remaining 2800 I have a question.  Why do you ONLY follow, then disappear, never to be seen again ?

That question actually leads me into my post.  All of you 200 followers are special to me and I would like to give a shout out to one follower, whom I also follow.  Mutual stalking ?

Hi Resa !  If it wasn’t for blogging, Resa and I would have never communicated and Natascha and I would have never met and got married.  So thank you WordPressCom.

~The Gown~

In a machine age, dressmaking is one of the last refuges of the human, the personal, the inimitable.

Christian Dior

Resa is phenomenal !  Not only is she a fantastic movie Costume Designer, once nominated for a prestigious Canadian Film Award, but also in her spare time she creates wonderful Art Gowns.  I think she has lovingly hand sewn over 12 gowns to date.  Each one taking months to make out of scraps of material.  They are all different and unique.  It would be brilliant if she could one day show them in a gallery or on a catwalk.

This is where the gown “O Royal Treasure” comes into Natascha and my wedding last year.

O Royal Treasure

Resa decided to name the gown after the Spanish village I lived in at the time.  Cañada del Real Tesoro ….  Track of the Royal Treasure.  She thought that the gown would make a wonderful wedding dress for Natascha.  After a lot of research, it was decided not to send the gown from Canada to Austria due to the expense and possible loss in transit, which would have been awful. Anyway, both Natascha and I would like to thank Resa for the kind thought which we will always treasure.

Resa asked us to link the gown to a charity and we chose Water Aid.

Recently, Resa made this drawing of Natascha wearing the gown.  Lovely !  Thank you, our friend.

Please click on these images which will take you to the relevant posts.

He gave her his heart. She took it and placed it quietly in the pocket of her gown. No one observed what she did.

  1. OMG…Ralph! The same things as you, make me go Why? Stupid saying, tattered cloths, etc! The wedding dress is remarkable and Natascha “looks” beautiful in it. I follow Resa too. I love her blog site! Such creativity in her sketches. Oh, and your cat family! Keeping track of one another or ignoring one another, all cute. Happy Weekend! 📚 Christine

  2. Of course I love the first half of this post best!
I was so happy to do an Art Gown for you & Natascha. What fun.
Okay…so I have 22 Art Gowns & 2 nominations for best Costume Design, but who’s pointing anything out?
I still would like to win an award. In the meantime, I’m doing my Art Gowns and Art Gowns art!
Still looking for a gallery show!
Love to both of you…..and the cats!! LOVE the cats! xoxoxo ❤ ❤

    • I had a feeling that you might be a little bit biased about the first segment of this post dear Resa. You deserve to be. If I had an award, a cup, to give you, I would. Then you can make a speech, thank your cats and your wine store for making this possible 😉
Big hug from all of us. Ralph xoxoxo ❤

  3. Resa is awesome and her gown for Natascha is stunning. Congrats & long may you blog Ralph! Don’t worry about people who follow and don’t comment. Maybe they will sometime when they want to, AND, I know you, and I, both, have enough to worry about, just with ourselves alone! 😉 😉 Live and let live, follow, comment, or not, who cares! We are only responsible for ourselves.

  4. Great post, Ralph!
Really enjoyed all the wordings on the T-shirts, etc., and really, REALLY, enjoyed the two pics of girls wearing quite “raggedy” clothing.
So sorry Natascha didn’t get to wear that lovely–GORGEOUS gown for your wedding, but I like what you did with it too.
    Thanks, Ralph & Natascha

  5. Those clothing “choices.” I prefer to think that they got dressed in a dark closet with the lights off, not that their underwear is so tight that the blood to their brains is cut off. 😉

Beautiful wedding dress drawing of Natascha. 🙂

And Samantha, sometimes people are like that. They just don’t come when you want them to. Cats can be like that too. 😉

    • lol. You are probably right dear Lynette and those girls probably paid $1000 for that ripped off designer look 🙂

  6. Firstly , I noticed it too with the followers, and only recently I went back to old posts and looked at comments. When you then click on them, they don’t exist anymore, some only start a blog and then don’t continue, some still exist but haven’t blogged for 5 years, some only follow you to be followed back. Some of mine also have sadly passed away. Only some loyal wonderful people like yourself continue and enjoy, so we have our regulars. This is lovely though and so enjoyable.
The fashion pictures you chose are brilliant, I bet some of them don’t know what is written on their shirt….and are not good at Geography. 🙂

    • I am pleased that I am not the only one querying followers. In addition to your many reasons, I think many of the new bloggers come straight from Facebook expecting instant followers.
Yes, you are right dear Ute, geography is not at the top of some people’s way of thinking.

  10. such beautifully
    expressed fashion!
people look to connect on wp
for sharing or selling or whatever.
they subscribe to make a connection
and if they don’t feel a reciprocation
they’re gone. may your day be well 🙂

    • Resa’s gown is amazing and as you say, David, it’s beautiful.
I agree with what you say about followers. Sometimes it is very difficult to reciprocate as there are no links to their blog.
Thank you and have a great day yourself. Ralph 🙂

  11. Most of my non-following “followers” are trying to sell something on their sites.

Looks like Samantha is the only one busily keeping watch out for other critters. Murli and Sonic need to get their act together or lose their mouser certification!!

    • That’s strange ! I have only had a couple of business followers, Al. Most of my new followers don’t have a blog as such. They are usually empty of content.
lol. Cats ! Who would have them ?
Take care my friend. Ralph 🙂

  12. A gorgeous wedding dress, indeed!

  13. Ralph, glad you shared some of the entertaining fashion with us. I saw plenty of it when I was in Japan, and even bought a hat that says, “Carifornia”. Maybe I should sport it on one of my fashion pages! Have a great weekend, Ralph!

    • Yes, it would be great to see you on a fashion page, Des. Perhaps not in shredded clothes though. lol
Thank you and have a great week yourself my friend. Ralph 🙂

  14. Wow, the power of WordPress indeed to bring two beautiful souls together. And Resa really is incredibly talented, that dress is stunning!!
I love the Far Eastern fashion, makes the mind boggle as to who comes up with these things, and who buys them!

  15. Yes, Ralph, the ‘following’ thing can get a bit exhausting! I always ‘take a look’ but, the majority seem to be just looking for followers/selling something/or perhaps just trying to pass the time! Sad really!
Resa’s gown for Natascha, like all Resa’s gowns, is incredibly special – what a fabulous artist she is.
I had such a good laugh at the fashion. Am I French yet?
It’s also good to see the cats are doing what all good cats do??? 🙂

    Liked by 3 people

    • Like you Carolyn I really do want to reciprocate the follow by at least taking a look at their blog, but I usually find that I have to do a Reader search or Google to find the blog which usually has no content. As you say, sad really !
I agree, Resa is a wonderful costume designer.
      Big hug. Ralph xox ❤

  16. What a fun post! I love Resa’s wedding dress design and certainly understand your agreement that shipping it would be quite costly. As beautiful as Natascha would have looked in it, she was the perfect bride in the dress she chose! Your cats are a hoot. I can tell they are enjoying the warmer weather. As to the other designs, there is no accounting for taste—or lack of it.😳🤷🏻‍♀️ Have a great week.

    • Thank you so much dear Linda. This post was fun to do. As usual, I have no idea what to put in the post, so it usually morphs from nothing or very little to what you eventually read. Luckily it usually turns out the way I want it to.
It was really sensible of Resa not to send the gown to us as it is one of the main stays of the collection which, I’m sure, will go on display somewhere in her local city.
It is quite cold in Graz at the moment, so the cats usually stay in with the occasional visit out onto the balcony.
I am sure that the wearers of these clothes have no idea what is written on their backs or how they look wearing shredded clothes.
Have a wonderful day dear wifi. Ralph xox ❤

  19. They might go undercover for a while, like me when it goes dark for a while. If not that then they are just missing out! I do have to admit that I sometimes don’t find my way around on this platform. ——- The dress is fantastic!!!!

    • Hi Simone 🙂 I am so pleased that you came out of the dark to comment. It’s lovely to talk to you again my friend. I understand as I had been there. Anyway, it is great that you visited.

  20. readers and followers here at WordPress and on other sites are busy skimming. Then they read and sometimes they like pictures/images. If they disappear they will reappear, yep. I did disappear and returned. So, technically I am writing all this blah blah from experience.

  21. As Ute pointed out long ago, the numbers don’t matter, but they are fun to look at especially when you first start. By the time I catch up tonight, I should have read every post you’ve ever written. Maybe others are like me. They read every word, but unlike me, they don’t talk back. The good news is that they don’t say a cross word. I agree with you and all your readers that Resa has an amazing talent. What a great dress. I’ll have to check out her blog and follow her. Or should I? What if I don’t get back and read it? That is the debate each person makes when they click “follow.” Even with a great relationship, it’s hard to take the time you need to read every word, don’t you think? Ah, but you read with your eyes closed. How do you do that MFR?

  22. The lovely Resa, a matchmaker as well as all her other talents 🤩🤗, I loved the wedding dress and I’m only sorry Natascha couldn’t wear it but what a clever idea to donate it.

I love your sense of humour, joie de vivre, and our blog chats.

As for blog follows I always try to communicate with bloggers who blog chat with me, and I follow back followers out of politeness but it’s definitely regular blog friends that I remember to revisit but it is blog life and there’s lots of people who read and like but don’t comment because they’ve nothing to add to what’s been already said, I do that too. Charlotte 💕 hugs

    • Thank you so much for your long comment dear sure what….. shall not……… Charlotte (I had to type that myself). I am sorry to take so long in replying as I couldn’t get my head around blogging what with the heat, my hands doing their own thing and a psychotic voice to typing app (as you can see by your name at the top of my reply). Anyway, to your comment.
Yes, Resa was really wonderful in offering one of the art gowns for Natascha. I am sure that it would have looked lovely on her.
Thank you so much. I haven’t been commenting much this week due to the above issues I had and I missed commenting on your recent posts. I am so pleased that you have so many bookings and plenty of work. It must be a great feeling for you.
I am the same as you concerning following. I enjoy the interaction and visiting other blogs.
Have a wonderful Sunday my friend. Keep cool. It’s hot here in Graz. Ralph xox ❤
