333: My Cats Are Scientists And I Can Prove It !

Before my main post, a little update for you.

Noooo !  Natascha and I are still NOT married !  We are waiting for my documents to be returned, rubber stamped as genuine, from the British Government in the UK.  That’s the final thing demanded by the Graz (Austria) Registrar.  Then we can get married !  Everything is taking so long and costing us a FORTUNE !

~Update of the update~

My documents have just, this moment of writing, arrived from the UK.  Two of them, my birth certificate of 71 years ago and divorce paper of 25 years ago are fine,  BUT my marriage certificate of 28 years ago is a copy (which was what I was given then) is not acceptable.  Duh !  How can I be divorced if I wasn’t married ?  So I have to get a new one.  As soon as it arrives here in Graz in the mail, off it goes AGAIN to the UK by mail to be legalised.   OMG !  Brain frying !  BTW we might be getting married in a shipping container ! That’s another story.  Oh boy !

So while we are waiting, we are off on holiday to the sun this summer.  Not us personally.  Our names are going on the Parker Solar Probe and our cats are going along too !  Natascha will have my surname by then, we HOPE !

Join us.  It’s easy and a bit of fun for this summer.  Fill in  this simple form ,  a couple of easy emails and you will get a certificate like ours.

It would be pointless to apply if you are a Flat Earth believer, because to you the sun is probably a hot pizza with double cheese and no anchovies.  Would you like coke with that ?

~The Main Post~

Graz  is well known as a university city.  A place filled with brains, not like HER !!

Sonic, Samantha and Murli, our cats, should be university professors.  Sonic is a theology scientist, licking his lips in anticipation of telling you all about his latest discovery.

~Sonic’s Stringy Things~

Cats are intended to teach us that not everything in nature has a purpose ….. Garrison Keillor

Sonic explains,  “In the Beginning God Cat found a motionless length of string in the void.  God Cat patted it, knotted it and tore it into trillions of pieces called Stringy Things.  Trillions of other cats joined in and had fun with Stringy Things and so the universe was born.  When the cats play they call it day.  When they sleep …. night !  Previously, a Dog God tried to create a universe with a Big Bang which frightened all the cats who went and hid.  The length of string in that universe lay motionless for ever.  A dead universe.  Strings create everything we know for the sole purpose of cats on Earth to play with string.”

Sonic demonstrating his purpose in life.

Samantha & Sonic doing practical stringy thing science

Sonic knows everything and normally tells no-one.

~Samantha, Bottom Physicist~

Intelligence in the cat is underrated ….. Louis Wain

Samantha always has a bottom problem.  Remember this post where she sat in a water leak ?

The cats have the use of two covered litter trays.  I don’t know how she does it, but Samantha stands up and pees out of the entrances of the litter trays.  EVERY TIME !   Floor tiles and pieces of kitchen roll laid on the floor usually save the day !

I digress !  Samantha watches the sparrow eat the food Natascha put out for the birds.

Samantha spies an icicle and …….

…. a bicycle which gives her an idea.

She ponders, “How long would it take to melt the snow on the saddle on a dark night to wet the bottom of the rider to create a human expletive ?  Start the stopwatch !  Must go to the toilet now.”

~Murli, Mathematician~

The mathematical probability of a common cat doing exactly as it pleases is the one scientific absolute in the world ….. Lynn M. Osband

Murli is always searching for her next mathematical discovery.

Constant thinking makes her look a little crazy.

She thinks outside of the box when inside the box.

” Got it !”

“The volume of the inside of the box equals a bed.  The volume of the music turned down outside of the box plus a flat surface also equals a bed.  Therefore as both equate to a bed, the inside of the box must equal the outside of the box plus a flat surface.  QED !  My head hurts.  Bed !”.

So sleeps Murli, a great mathematician.

~A Blip In The Catrix~

In the middle of a world that had always been a bit mad, the cat walks with confidence …. Rosanne Amberson

Look at this photograph of part of our courtyard garden.  What do you see ?

Is a tree growing in the rose bed ?  Is the rose bed behind the tree ?  Or, really spooky, a blip in the Matrix Catrix ?  Is the rosebed floating half way up the tree trunk ?  (Clic-the-pic for the full size image.)

Are you still sane after reading all of this ?

  1. Nice to see y’all back at it – some really good stuff Ralph I particularly enjoyed the coke reference and that picture of Murli thinking outside the box is really quite spectacular.

Sorry to hear of the hold-up on getting your hitchment to happen. True enough that you can’t get a divorce unless you are first married unless… maybe they are coming out with a no-marriage divorce for folks who are quite certain they will never marry yet still want to divide up all their stuff.

May the cat gods smile favorably upon your upcoming nuptials 😀

    • It’s great to see you too commenting Lynette. It was very difficult for both of us to stay positive on opening the envelope and finding one paper was not good enough for legalisation, but we are okay now. Off we go into the realms of more bureaucrazy. Yes, the cats are happy and settled here in Austria. Have a lovely weekend my friend. Ralph xox ❤

      • Oh, Ralph, you are so right on both counts. Let your cats at the red tape; they know exactly what to do with worthless nonsense like paperwork–tear it to shreds! As for the complication of having divorce papers, but no marriage license, wanting to get married again, but meanwhile having obtained, without any paperwork whatsoever, a U.S. wifi who lives in Mexico with her legal spouse, and explain all of that in a language you don’t speak😱…well, let’s just not throw that in the mix or you and Natascha will never be able to get married. We certainly can’t have that. We’ll keep it a secret. Just you, me, Natascha and your almost 3,000 followers.😂

  9. Hi Ralph and Natasha I joined the Parker Solar Probe. Great to see all your feline family. Loved your blog post cheered me up. My boyfriend is from America and I live in Scotland but im a carer for my schizophrenic son so there is no chance of me and my son moving to America and to get married here it’s so difficult just like the problems your both having why does it have to be so difficult for two people who love each other and just want to be married. Im 58 and Greg is 70. Wishing you all the very best of luck and of course lots of hugs and Purrs to your kitties. Christine.x

That’s great ! You are coming with us to the sun. Should be fun to follow the progress of the Solar Probe knowing that we are participating in a tiny way.
I am so pleased that this post cheered you up for a few moments especially after reading what followed. I can imagine how frustrating it must be for both of you being bound by all that bureaucratic nonsense. I do hope that you find a way to get together. Both Natascha and I are upset about the barriers you have to face. We are keeping our fingers crossed that something good comes out of it.

  13. Wow! I can’t believe how the Universe works. I’m trying to recap. Okay, you get a cat and some string. Got it!!!!
The cat tears at the string. Got it!
You get a litter box, and some snow. The cat pees outside the litter box and stares at the snow. ALMOST got it.
My Johnny stares at the snow and sh*%s outside the litter box. Almost perfect correlation!
    You get a box.
Understand the volume of a rectangle equals it’s length x width x height. If your box is a rectangular prism or a cube, the only information you need is the box’s length, width, and height. You can then multiply them together to get volume. This formula is often abbreviated as V = l x w x h.
You put the cat in the box, and get a tree with a floating Catrix garden behind it.
    Much love to all!

  14. Red tapes sucks. Lets hope everyone gets their act together so you too can funally get married. Look at it this way, isn’t there some saying that says nothung easy was worth having, or something similar. Well this should show you that you guys are meant to be 🙂

    • You are so right Juls. Red tape sucks ! It has been a stressful few months, everything takes for ever and costs a packet just to do the simplest thing. Anyway, just the old marriage certificate to sort out and we should be at the finishing post.
Have a lovely week my friend. Ralph xox ❤

  15. You still have snow. Ours is almost gone. Hopefully we won’t get anymore. Hope all goes well so you can get married. Now this solar probe thing, I just fill out form and what happens? Forgive me if I’m a Little Confused. Can You Explain better please.

    • Yes, we still have snow here in Graz, Crystal. It has been coming and going for the last few weeks. Same here, we hope that this week will be the last to give Spring a chance.
I agree, I hope this last document will be the final problem before we get married.
All it is, is a bit of fun. There is a space probe taking off at the end of July to do science really close to the sun. Our names will be on board and will fly to the sun. All the information about the flight is in the menu above the application form. As I said, it is a bit of fun knowing that we are participating in a very tiny way.
      Hugs. Ralph xox ❤

  16. My head is spinning with all the scientific explanations. You have some amazing cats here. My cat Thomas is master in snoozing and professor in napping. He is just researching the snoozing again right now. There is still so much research to do.
My head is equally spinning with the paperwork you need. Clearly the Austrians don’t trust any one from Birth and need evidence everywhere. Isn’t the important bit that you are divorced and free to marry. What has the marriage certificate to do with it. It does not make sense. Still all the best for the last hurdle. …you are almost there.!
Love and hugs for you both from Ute

    Liked by 1 person

    • My head is spinning too dear Ute, not only with cats science, but with all the bureaucrazy shenanigans. Oh yes, Thomas must be a snooze Prof with lots of nap research to be done. I totally agree with you about the stupidity of needing the old marriage certificate when the divorce paper is legal and approved. All the documents have to be translated into German by a court approved translation company which also costs a fortune. Soon after we are married I will do a cost breakdown post for the three documents ie birth certificate, old marriage certificate and divorce paper. All of what they are doing to us is totally unnecessary and the weeks drag by. Hopefully, my next post will be a a lot happier.
Have a lovely week. I hope you are not up to your neck in snow.

      • Hi Ralph, so sorry for the delay in reply. Yeah, we had snow twice and last time is started on Saturday and it wasn’t until later on Monday that it started to clear, and so I could not get transport to see my dad for his birthday so saw him on Thursday instead. Still redundant from an employed job but have been doing lots of training in how to create online courses and I finally started creating my first online course. It’s called Ignite Your Happy, How To Ignite The Happiness Within You, To Be Happy, Live Happy, and Feel Happy Forever and I have to say that it is making me happy just creating it, even though it takes hours to record the videos, then edit them and add effects. I have finished 3 videos so far and done the course outline and got far more to create. I have planned for over 40 videos at the moment. Last month I created my whole work schedule for this month and only had 5 days written down to create this course – oh boy!! One of the guys I learnt from who works full-time as an online instructor, he says it takes 3-4 weeks to create a course and he has been doing it for a few years, so now my calendar is way out of sync, so that has been tough, as I had so much else planned. I have to say that the course is and will be, a stonkingly good course. It’s working on me!!!! I also hurt my back and waiting for physiotherapy on 30th of April. It’s not as bad as it was – I can tie my own shoelaces now every day and going to the toilet is easier and I can bend down in the shower – which is how my back went in the first place – I just have to be careful and bend my knees more. I have been doing the exercises the doctor gave me but sometimes it just makes my back worse and other days it feels better. My mum gave me the money for a new exercise mat as the one I have is not thick enough, but at the moment I am not sure how much it helps. I think it helps my back but as it is very thick foam, it hurt my hip because it’s hard when turning over and my back was causing me hip problems anyway, so I decided to put my thinner one on top earlier and that helped more. I am used to fibro pain but when I have this on top it makes it a bit harder, but if I go and do something that engrosses me, like going to the cinema, I have less pain. So the cinema has been my medicine recently with many special offers of low pricing and now I go to kids club it is £2.50 on Saturday morning. Can you thank Natasha for subscribing to my channel. I really appreciate that xx

      • Oh wow ! What a long comment from you Sandra. You had so much to say. Where do I start ?
It’s no problem about you replying as I know that you are busy. I have been reading about the weather in the UK and I hope you have almost seen the last of the snow. It is definitely warming up here, no snow for a while and none on the ground. Expecting rain though which is not a lot of fun for Natascha as she cycles into the city twice a day for her medication from the pharmacy, but she does not seem to mind as she loves to be out on her bicycle.
You are really keeping yourself busy with your books, blogs etc. I have just liked your latest video.
I am sorry to read that you have back pain. I know what it is like as I lifted a sack of earth many years ago, cracked my back and fell to the ground in agony. It comes and goes rarely nowadays. Natascha also experiences back pain, usually bending down to clean up the cats litter which they like to throw all over the apartment. I am glad that you have found something to take your mind off the pain and hope that it will be cured soon.
I have spoken to Natascha and I also see that you have made a comment on her latest post.
Get well soon my friend. I see that the retail stores are having a really rough time in the UK, many closing, but I do hope that you find something that pays well and that you enjoy.
Have a lovely Easter Sandra. Ralph xox ❤

      • Hi Ralph, yeah, many shops are closing, so it’s super tough, I just pray that I can make a full time living from home the future. More shops will close and are closing and I have been in retail for most of my life and if I am honest about my Fibro then it’s no go. My outgoings are more than my incomings but at least I am lovingly dreams of learning how to do things and will have a course out to buy that is very informative and life changing. It’s helping me as I go along. I always find my own books help me too. Thanks for liking my videos, I don’t have subscribers on that channel, so it keeps me going. I have one lady who emails me a lot because she loves my videos and she keeps telling me that she likes them and to keep it up, so I do them for people like her. Why can’t they give Natascha medicine to take at home? Seems so strange? Happy Easter to you too xx

Seems to be the same almost everywhere re ‘originals’… Though, once a passport is acquired that seems to negate the need for lots of ‘other’ proof, here in Oz. It’ a dizzy process, this getting married… All the best to you both, and the little furry ones, too… 🙂

Everything else that I had to do to live here legally, ie. residency, health, social services etc. was so easy. They accepted my English documents and passport without batting an eyelid. The only one who would be in trouble if I was married would be me, not the Registrar or British Embassy. Anyway, we are almost there. We have applied on line for an original old marriage certificate.
