319: I Need A Holiday !

The last time I went on holiday was to Israel in 2014.  Time for a new adventure.

Where will I go this time ?  Madras, India ?  Or perhaps to the Island Of Elba, Italy ?  Who knows !

Haha !  Very funny China Cat !

Good !  The cats are asleep !  Now where shall I go ?  *thinks*

What now ?  What’s up China Cat ?

Oh dear, I am so sorry for leaving you.  Even with a friend visiting for a couple of minutes each day to feed you, it was a difficult fortnight holiday for me as I was constantly worrying about you.

It was also difficult being on holiday with my hands as they are.  I couldn’t pick up coins, cut food or do anything much with them … and … my trousers fell down so many times when I had to remove my belt at all the security check points.  I might as well have gone on holiday just wearing my Superman boxers !

I think I’ll forget the whole idea and stay at home.

Oh boy !

Would you like to go on vacation with me … perhaps a cruise in my bedroom ?  🙂

What is your suggestion ?

Ralph xox ❤

I totally agree with you my friend. I have never been to Greece, but spent three years in Cyprus where the Greek food and scenery was marvellous. I would like to go somewhere where I could meet up with a fellow blogger. Hey, Pelly lives in Greece. Great idea Annette 🙂

Thank you so much for your kind words. I won’t tell the cats what you said as they will turn into right divas. Hey, I may decide to come your way that is if Trump will let me in 😉
Big hug and maybe one day we might have breakfast together. Ralph xox ❤

      • That would be lovely! Funny you should say that….the only I time I went to the coast to see a launch up close, I was in a McDonald’s parking lot! LOL. The AP wire even mentioned my group took their McSpot. 8D

      • You really pick the best of places to view a launch, don’t you ? I am so jealous ! I did do a bus tour of the site many years ago (not around the car park), but there was nothing on the pads the time I was there 😦 ❤

      • Ha! I actually prefer looking out my door now. (Because I’m lazy) If I’m lucky, I can see the jet trail. I’ve never done the tour. Maybe my next vacation? Toured SAC museum and ate astronaut ice cream. So…close, right? 😜. 8)💜

      • Right ! I wonder what astronaut ice cream tastes like ? I suppose it’s a bit difficult to eat with a spaceman’s helmet on 😉

Thank you so much for your kind words about the cat photographs. You are so sweet as well.
Yes, the new neighbours have been behaving themselves. The police came the other afternoon, didn’t talk to anyone, just took photos of the four CCTV cameras and then they left. Uh oh, I would not like to be in my new neighbours shoes now as there may be a big fine in the offing for them.
I hope you are having a wonderful weekend my friend.

    • Hello YC 🙂
You may be right, staying at home is probably the most sensible option. On saying that I would love to go away on holiday, but this time not on my own. It’s just the thousands of fiddly things I have to do with my hands which takes the sparkle off the fun. So I would love to go with someone, preferably female, who is able to do all these fiddly things. Oh well, dream on Ralph ! 😉

  6. Ralph, this is a great planning saga. So funny!😂 I think the cats won out this time. Pets just don’t like to be left alone (even 4 all together is considered alone to a cat) and they feel impelled to act out. Poor apartment. Dogs🐶 are so glad to see you when you get back; cats🐱 have been planning further payback and are ready! If you are really wanting a vacation, join me in Chama, New Mexico,🇺🇸 this summer or Pátzcuaro, Michoacán,🇲🇽 come fall. Neither is exotic compared to the places you are considering, but you would still get to experience the friendly airline✈️ workers and show off your Superman boxers.😱
    Have a great weekend! 😀

  7. Dear Ralph,

You can go on a holiday, but I suggest this for the cat situation.
    1. Hire a full time babysitter. You might as well bring someone in from another country. This way you are ensured that person (I suggest a lovely, cat-loving woman) will not go home at night. This way the cats have 24/7 attention. The cost of this is merely added to the vacation budget $$$.
    2. Install a Kitty Cam! You can have it focused on S & S’s sleeping area. This way you can watch them sleep all day on your smart phone while you are away.
    3. As the cats will instinctively know you have monitored their sleeping area, they will change spots. You will be able to watch an empty nest and bare floor all day.
    4. S&S will undoubtedly begin a cozy relationship with their lovely babysitter. She will be drawn in to their cute world, and overfeed them to compensate them for your betrayal.
    5. You will return home to fat cats, who now love the babysitter.
    6. The babysitter will go back home. Good luck with the cats on that one!
    7. You will have to put S & S on a diet, as their extra weight will be unhealthy. Now they will hate you for leaving them, sending the nice lady away and starving them. Don’t worry. They will forget everything………………….eventually! (3-4 weeks tops)

So you see, you are a mere 7 steps away from a vaycay.
    Much Love, xoxoxo ❤

One teeny weenie point. I don’t want to be finicky or anything like that, but why can’t I stay at home and play with the lovely baby-sitting lady ? Just a thought ! lol

      • Yes, the cats warned me you would ask this. 😀
Babysitting ladies only babysit babies, and cats. Occasionally, dogs are involved.
The cats feel if you are at home, there is no need for a babysitting lady.
They want someone they can boss around better than they can boss around you.
Otherwise, it’s not really a vacation.
        It’s a cat’s world!
        Much love & hugs,
        xoxo ❤

  11. I can’t believe Israel was that long ago…. The cats have a point, they really do need to be waited on, with sunbathing and everything done for them, they are working so hard every day to rest and make you happy. So for a change: Wait on them, let them sunbathe and be their slave. You will find it easy and no training needed….. Hope they pay well….
Then with all this money you can have a tour around the world or just pop over to Spain. I hear near Ronda it is really lovely. 🙂 I know someone who bought a lovely red T-shirt there and every time she wears it people ask…. see a great spot. 🙂

I know ! Time has just flown by, so I am due another holiday. I think I may go to Gibraltar for a while as there is a lot I haven’t seen there yet. It will be easier for me as it is just a train and taxi ride, no hassle of being a sardine on an airline. Or Morocco, as that is just a train, taxi and ferry. Want to come ?
Heehee. I am my cats’ slave. No salary, probably NO holiday 😉
Wearing that T-shirt must bring back great memories for you my friend.

🙂 Thank you very much. This post was a lot of fun to draft.
Sorry to read about your husband being in the same position in security. Another annoying thing is having to take your shoes off and there is nowhere to sit to do it, so I think I will give airports a miss if I do decide to go on holiday alone this year.

      • Well that’s an eye opener Ralph. At least I’ve found benches at security stops where we drag our stuff and half naked selves over to ‘get redressed’, I’m surprised there aren’t any in European airports? I sure miss the old days of travel. 🙂 ❤

How lovely it must have been to have gone away to a peace ranch locally. It’s must have been really relaxing for you. Thank you for your suggestion. Luckily I do have fitted pants which don’t need a belt. Unluckily I wore a pair which I bought at the local market before leaving. The length was okay, but I could fit two of me at the waist. I should have tried them on before leaving home I suppose. I won’t make that mistake again ! I really do need supervision, don’t I ?
Take care my friend. Ralph xox ❤

      • LOL. My other suggestion would be don’t order food that needs to be cut. So if you have the right pants and get easy to eat food you can travel all you want. Especially if you can use a card to pay so coins don’t get involved.

OMG your cats are just so sweet! And I totally understand them and you, about staying home! Hehe you already live in a place I’d consider like a holiday environment, because of the climate. I would love to go on holidays as well, but I absolutely can’t bear leaving Murli. I like being the last one to comment, then I get to read what everyone says. In all of them no one mention of the USA! You have people that love you here! Not that I blame you with all the airline hassles. Australia is great, but I had to leave my suitcase there on the trip back. It did not pass size inspection. Hmmmm You absolutely need a woman-friend. I don’t recommend traveling alone! However, California has lots to see and do, and you have someone here once you get here! Of course, there are lots of women here! Cats will sleep through it all. We leave ours here and the neighbor comes over to bring them food. They’re happy as clams. Kalev goes to Cindy’s and sleeps on her bed. I like the on-site cam idea the best. Then you can see what the cats and the babysitters are doing the whole time you’re gone. I’d put one right by China cat. Shee seems to have her eyes open for trouble ALL the time. The other two sleep most of the time. 🙂 So wherever you decide, have a lovely time. 🙂

  20. Ralph – you’re on one long vacation living in Spain – my favourite holiday destination and once again I’m looking forward to our next trip.. I’ve booked a surprise trip to celebrate hubbies 60th in the summer – yee haa!!! He doesn’t have a clue and all our family are going – fun fun fun! So my friend Ralphy.. my suggestion to you is to ‘have a home holiday’… do some things differently than you would normally – plan some day trips to places you don’t normally go or plan some activities (cough cough…) to do at home that inspire you or bring you joy… and of course make plenty of time to stroke your cats (I was going to say stroke your pussies but decided that sounded a bit too rude..haha!). You could always pick up some tips from my post on ‘creating a sense of vacation at home’ of course… and I don’t normally do this but it’s so appropriate this time I can’t resist so here’s the link… https://brilliancewithin.com/2016/05/18/how-to-create-a-sense-of-vacation-at-home/

It’s getting to the stage where going out alone is becoming a no-no. Thank you for your link and a house trip may be on the cards.
