Update: Snow, Completion & Mad New Neighbour

It snowed overnight in my Spanish mountain village for one day this winter.  All gone in a day.  18degC today.

So you want to buy or sell a house in Spain ?  During the legal process expect a curve ball, something that makes you want to pull your hair out.  This is just what happened to my friends David & Hilda who are living with their 10 cats & dog in temporary accomodation while the sale of their old home and purchase of the new are completed.

16 January 2017

An update from us and how we’re trying to cope with the Spanish bureaucracy.

We moved out of our house last Thursday and are now living in ++++.
We’re adjusting to living high up on the wrong side of the valley where we don’t see the sunshine until around 11 am, burning around 20 logs or more daily trying to heat just one room, blocking the draughts from doors and windows and reminding ourselves that we’re having a break…well trying to.
However, you’ll be pleased to know that the cats and the dog are settled which is the main thing and at least it’s not raining. Oh! and we’re getting used to Spanish TV and lots of reading.

We should have gone to complete today ( Monday) but, surprise, surprise, obstacles have been put in our way to prevent this.

Firstly our ++++ went to the Town hall to collect a document which the ++++ should have had available on Thursday ( this confirms that we live outside the national park), but greeted ++++ with “I haven’t done this as I am too busy with other work”.

++++ returned on Friday and we’re still waiting to hear about the certificate, but in the meantime Friday evening we’re advised that we must produce the past 3 years of electricity bills, IBI, and have two witnesses ready to testify that we have lived in our house the past years . Everything is packed away including files in over 100 boxes….so we searched, did find them and took them to ++++’s office this morning questioning who exactly is asking for this? Seems it’s the ++++ who will make a 3% retention of monies unless they’re produced!

…so here we are waiting and our lives are on hold !

We will let you know as and when we have something to celebrate in the hope that something may happen this week

Love from
Us x

By the evening the snow had gone from the bottom of the valley where I live.

Just to let you know that finally we will be moving into our new house next Tuesday. We will forward our address once we are there. Can’t believe that we will have lived in three houses within four weeks !

~Mad New Neighbour~

Yes, after weeks of no noise at all from our new neighbours she kicked off again …. BIG TIME !

At 2045 hrs 02 February 2017 all was quiet.  It was dark.  I was sitting quietly on my sofa, the young neighbours below, not a peep ….. then ……

On the WALL right NEXT to me !  So loud and continuous !  Frightened the life out of me !  I could just about make out that she was shouting.  Baby Liam, asleep in the apartment below me, started crying.  It stopped !  Then an even louder continuous metallic banging on her front balcony rail next to mine.

I shot out of the chair and was out onto my front balcony faster than Donald Trump signing an executive order.  I said one thing, “I am going to call the police !” and went back indoors.  I could hear doors slamming, gradually fading, as she worked her way downstairs.  Then quiet.

I picked up my home phone.  IT WAS DEAD !  Ooops, I forgot that the installer of my new internet provider had told me that it would take a week to transfer my phone number from the old IP to the new.  Next Tuesday !

The young family and I decided to keep a record of her outbursts.

Anyway !

Are your tenders hooked in anticipation of my next post ?

Yes, my Valentine’s Day post !

  1. Dear Ralph,
I’m trying to cope with the blogging bureaucracy, let alone the Spanish government’s.
Everything is out of control…. out of sync.
    trump has me unaligned.
Sonic seems to know more than I do.
    Stars are dying.
The universe is creating new solar systems.
Jeep & Johnny are thinking of taking their show on the road. (Maresidotesand doeseatdotesandliitelambseativy) It’s a Bob Hope/Bing Crosby revival deal. They are considering asking Sonic & Samantha to be their managers.
    I’m beside myself.
What’s a cat mother to do?
    Much love,
    xoxo ❤ #<

    • Hello dear Resa 🙂
      Mucho eek indeed !
lol. I just love your comment. I think you have been rescuing wine from its bottle.
S&S have just told me that they must regretfully decline J&J kind offer of becoming their managers due to the fact that they are overwhelmed with sleep, stomping all over Daddy’s laptop keyboard and hiding everything that moves under the sofa.
I do hope that there is a enough room on your chair as you are beside yourself, if not I should move to the sofa, but take care of all the hidden items that the cats have thoughtfully stored there.
Be strong. A cat mother has cats for life not just for Christmas. OMG *faint* !
Love and hugs. Ralph xoxox ❤ #<

      • J&J are saddened. They have no other cat teams they can ask to manage them.
Nonetheless, they are preparing a Valentine for S&S. No, not for you, or me, but for S&S.
These selfish little adorable, cute, fluffy, purry, picturesque creatures have me running around like a fool. xoxo <# ❤

      • Your reply as reduced to me to tears dear Resa. No matter how much I plead with S&S they just turnover and carry on snoring. What can we do ? WHAT CAN WE DO ???
“Hey, wake up cats ! Great news ! ……. WAKE UP !”. Hopeless, so much for J&J’s Valentine news …. hopeless 😦
Be strong my friend and be the fool that you really are. heehee.

  2. Looking forward to your next (Valentine) post, Ralph! Some resolution of the bang bang new neighbors! How bothersome! Hope all goes well for your old neighbors! So much going on. Like your snow pics! Happy weekend, my friend! 🎶 Christine

    • Hello Christine 🙂
Oh heck, I have to think of something good and really funny for my Valentine’s post !
There is a follow up to the banging. My young neighbours have just told me that a few hours after that incident baby Liam started crying at 5am. Toni went into his bedroom to give him a cuddle and heard loud talking from next door. The new neighbours had called the builder (who we suspect was paid by the new neighbours to slash Pedro’s tyres) as his car was outside parked on the street. We are wondering what they are plotting to do now. lol.
Thank you my friend. I am not a fan of the cold, but these snow photos came out okay, didn’t they ?
Thank you and have a lovely weekend yourself. Ralph xox ❤

      • Oh no! Bang, bang neighbors plotting more havoc. If you or your good neighbors can hear them talking, I’d record it. Can use a phone with recording app! You need protection, and proof! A big hug for Valentine’s Day coming up! ❤ Christine

Oh no indeed. Thank you so much for your advice. All quiet for a couple of days now.

  3. Well done threatening to call the police – even if your cellphone was dead! It’s the principle of the thing!

We have snow here too, a bit more than you I suspect. It’s up at about 60 cm so far and three more days expected!

    SNOW!!!!! 😀

    • Hello dear Widdershins 🙂
Thank you. I had to say something to her. I didn’t want to get into a conversation or argument with the new neighbours wife at the time as goodness knows what is going on in her head. I have not seen the husband about at all and he is the one who I need to talk to. Maybe one day I will go and knock on their door.
Yes, I saw the pictures on your latest post of the snow that you are having. Sorry that you are medically unable to enjoy it my friend.

  4. I agree with Samantha, yuk to the snow.
Good idea to document the episodes with your neighbour. If you ever did have to go to the police it is handy to have that kind of information. Also you might be able to determine if there is a pattern to her behaviour.
Looking forward to a nice Valentine from you, Ralph.

I’m glad as well that it is all over for David and Hilda, except for their final move to their new home on Tuesday. What could possibly go wrong ?
I am okay, Pedro and I are not stressed at all, but I do know that Toni is. Somehow this has got to stop before it escalates.
I do hope that you are having a lovely day my friend. Hugs. Ralph xox ❤

  7. The snow scenes look pretty. I think the buying and selling houses anywhere are complicated. A lot of paper works and signing etc., I really hate when they need records of things as such. These days, why can’t they look at them via internet themselves.

I am not clear why your new neighbor made loud noises like that?

    Liked by 1 person

    • Hello YC 🙂
Thank you. The snow photos came out well, didn’t they ?
I totally agree with you about the legal paperwork being a lot easier for buying and selling houses. The main problem in Spain is that they are coming to terms with all the screw ups made in the past, such as backhanders, illegal constructions, paperwork not filed correctly and so on. Oh boy !
I also have no idea why the new neighbour made those awful noises. I am coming to the conclusion that she is just crazy.
Take care my friend. Ralph 🙂

So, there was a lull, and now another storm with the neighbour from that hot place.

Crikey, is almost Valentine’s Day again? I’d better get the candles, mood music, champagne, bubble bath ready. Minx will like that. Well, maybe not the bubble bath. 🙂

It’s David ! You really must read one of my posts one day. lol.
All quiet at the moment, she is probably catching her breath. Mind you, I did write an email to the husband yesterday asking for an explanation. No response. That’s why (and other things) I have been so long in answering your comment my friend.
Minx would definitely hate a bubble bath. Have you tried a bubble shower ?
Take care Yvonne. Ralph xox ❤

  9. Snow – we just got some today as well. It was also quite wet and won’t last long. That’s what I get for daring to suggest that spring is on its way.

    The photos are great. 🙂

Your neighbours are something else. Ours are noisy but nothing like you’re experiencing.

  10. Snow in Spain! Glad it worked out for your lovely neighbours but house moving is such a hassle, even over here. As for the problem neighbours, yikes, such a nightmare. I read your post about them last time and it just makes me so sad. I had a terrible experience when younger living in a flat with a neighbour and I had to decamp and move home for a year! Police were involved but couldn’t do much, in those days. Troublesome neighbours cause so much fear and heart ache, I really hope this sorts out soon for all your sakes. Looking forward to your Valentines Post! 😀♥️

Oh yes, there are many ski centres near Granada and up north in the Pyrenees. I have never tried it here, but did ski many years ago in Cyprus, hit a tree which put me off my life.
I am also pleased that my friends are almost on the last leg of buying and selling here in Spain. I wish them luck and happiness.
Yikes is the appropriate word. Goodness knows what a crazy neighbour will get up to next time. I hope there is not a next time.
I am so sorry to read about your experience with an awful neighbour and am pleased that you had somewhere to go.
Heavens, eight days until Valentine’s day. I really must get on and write a post. Oh boy !

  15. Ralph,
Your snow pictures are beautiful. A dusting doesn’t do any harm, especially if you don’t have to travel in it. I had to laugh at your friends’ house experiences. We rent in Mexico rather than buy a home, with good reasons which are similar to what your friends have gone through. The mantra is expect the unexpected–and never expect business to be transacted in one day. ALL transactions with the banks or the government here require an electric bill. It is just as important as the visa. Looking forward to your Valentine blog post. Having accepted your proposal to be your wifi, I am expecting great things. But first, maybe you should get your phone working again.
    Have a great week,

Yes, that’s right, you did except my proposal of being my wifi. We must go out one day and buy an engagement tone 🙂
I was promised that my phone would be connected to the new IP today, Tuesday, but this is Spain, so which Tuesday is anyone’s guess 🙂

Fun new neighbours ? I never saw it that way. I must buy some happy glasses.
I think that David and Hilda moved for the same reason as I did. As one gets older, things that one used to be able to do in a large home and garden become more difficult. So moving to a home which is easier to run is a good idea.
Hugs back dear friend. Ralph xox ❤

Yes, both myself and the young family are taking notes of any such incident by this woman. When he installed my new fast speed Internet the man did promise that I would have my home phone working today. It’s now 7:30 PM …. nothing ! Oh boy !
