An Ant With A Magnifying Glass

 ~Day 1~

Do you remember in my last post when I tried to give money back to the bank,  had a leak in the kitchen and found hornets’ nests ?  Well,  it’s got a whole lot worse !

A couple of days after publishing the last post and while I was having fun answering your comments,  my laptop produced a million vertical lines,  made mechanical clunking noises,  went black and would not switch off.

~Day 2 to Day 11~

After a night of “praising” my Dell laptop I sent it away to be fixed locally.  As it didn’t work, the village Spanish computer man either sent it to Dell repair in Madrid,  or to a beach lounger on the Costa,  or to a laptop dancing club.  Who knows !

What to do ?  No laptop !!!  Arghh !!!

The cats don’t care.

I do have a Tablet … in a box !

I bought it a year ago and looked at it.  The cable sockets were so tiny that an ant with a magnifying glass couldn’t see them and none of my laptop cables would fit.  Too big !

I switched it on.  My vibrating hands tapped,  swiped,  squeezed and stretched.  Weird things happened.  Nothing did what I wanted.  Almost becoming an expensive frisbee I returned the Tablet to its box.

A year passed,  until now !

No laptop means no blogging …. an unboxed Tablet is a 1% chance of blogging especially as I have to start from scratch.  Oh boy !

I spent half a day trying to sign in to Gmail.  I knew my password was right … “gspot” … The word corrector had changed my email address first letters of my name to capitals,  not all letters in lower case and I hadn’t noticed !  This Tablet WILL,  by the time this is published,  become a very expensive frisbee !

Via a Google Search I found my blog.  I spent another half day trying to find where to Log In.  A stupid WP monkey hid it in the small “Follow” box at the bottom right of the page by clicking on the three dots.  I did remember my password … “Won’tPress” …

So here I am,  almost at the end of drafting this post.  I really do need to be a 12yo Tablet whizzkid and have nearby a 45 (not inches)-24-36 woman on whom I can tap,  slide,  squeeze and stretch (not necessarily in that order)…. my Tablet resting on her 45 degree slope.

I digress.  The writing on blog pages are either too tiny for an ant with a magnifying glass to read or it zooms in to 3 words on a page.  My vibrating hands !!  Oh boy !

(Insert ant with magnifying image here)

Can’t do it.

On trying to upload an ant with a magnifying glass image to Add New in the Media Library,  WordPress said that I needed their special App for my device.  I followed the instructions like the good boy I am.  Pressed “Install”.  Nothing happened.  In small red writing underneath, it exclaimed with glee  >>>

! Your device does not exist

Silly me !  Of course it doesn’t exist !  It’s a very expensive frisbeeeeeee !

Well,  how did I do ?

At least we can communicate,  can’t we ?  Sort of !

 Ralph xox ❤

All images are from my WP Media Library.

My next post will be in November as this Tablet is making me crazy !!  No change there then  🙂

      • Good luck with finding a woman you can write on – think that might be a bit of a fantaseeee! I have no tablet and have no desire for one as it has no proper keyboard. But good on you actually getting the damn thing going enough to write a blog post. Happy Christmas! 🙂

      • Hello Caroline. Long time no see ! Fantaseeee, and a great idea. I have gone a long way since writing this post. The tablet has been ejaculated back into its box, hopefully never to be seen again as I have a brand-new laptop. Love it ! I can even draft a proper post with it (not that my posts are proper that is 😉 ). My latest post even has photos of me …. oh dear.
I hope you have a lovely Christmas my friend. Big hug. Ralph xox ❤

  1. Sounds like you are half operational. I completely understand how setting up new computer can be so painful with having pull out all passwords and accounts to setup again 😦 Good luck with your laptop.

I was about to answer your comment last night and the battery went flat. Recharged this morning, after an hour of so slow unasked for updates and Google download I am operational. Yay !
Take care my friend. Ralph 🙂

My laptop is going to have a new motherboard … at least !! which means me setting it up from scratch. Luckily I have most of my laptop apps etc. backed up on memory sticks. Oh boy !
My laptop is due home in November if Dell can fix it !

  4. Looks like many of your readers are dills! Just like me. Just like you. We are all trying to overcome the frustration. I cannot count the hours I have wasted on trying to get things up and running after a power outage, an attempted hack, a software update etc etc. I FEEL YOUR PAIN poor dear Ralph. 😥 At Least you still have your sense of humour, Sonic and Samantha. Tell those kitties, I apologise if I got their names wrong. Lots of love to you Ralphie. X X Kate

    • Thanks Leslie. The first day drafting this post was murder. The top quarter of the screen was taken up by the browser, the bottom half by the keyboard, leaving a small bit to work in. Horrible ! I put the tablet down in disgust and the screen turned longways. Duh ! Much better ! I didn’t know !
Hope to have normality back in November.

WP on my tablet is very difficult, but not impossible. I am using the old WP Notifications to reply to you which is not too bad on long screen. At least we are talking. Yay !
Have a lovely evening my friend.
      Ralph xox ❤
PS. I may have to get a new laptop if mine can't be fixed. x

    • Thanks for the picture and your lovely words Georges. I need to put Google Translate into my tablet !
Bon weekend mon ami. Ralph 🙂

  10. You are super, you did a post on a tablet…. I have a tablet but can only read on it. Never tried a post on there…. I would be lost without my computer. I admire you. On the other hand you might think of buying a new laptop, might be cheaper and less hassle in the long run. But congratulation to this post!

Whoa, I thought you were a whizz kid when you had your tablet here. I understand now why you don’t use your tablet to draft a post.
When my laptop went wonky I thought it may need a new power or graphic card. Dell has told me that if they can’t fix it they will refund the money that they asked for up front. I am hoping that they will offer me a discount on a new one as the exchange rate is crashing. Oh boy !
Have a lovely evening my friend. Hugs. Ralph xox ❤

  15. Dearest Ralph, although you have presented this setback with your usual
characteristic ‘signature’ wit that instantly produces giggles and entertainment
for the Reader, i m sure All of us can understand -and many already experienced-
how frustrating and upsetting and inconvenient such an incident really is.
I too have an apple ipad my man bought for me some time back
and used briefly and gave up due to the constant challenges presented.

As i am still dealing with similar problems with a newly arrived Dell Laptop
due to old LT internet connection troubles and now having to learn and adapt
from Win7 to Win 10 i can see that both of us are going through a stage
of inconveniences that bring to mind the catchy title of
(according to reviews, shallow porno masochistic trash or something?)
“Fifty Shades of Gray” in regards to our hair! LOL! 🙂

Hope your ‘Baby’ arrives back soon, intact and healthy so that
it can reinstate your generous happy smiles and shiny eyes again
and enjoy true fun with guilt free giggles with your entries!
Of course there are no sources as reach as troubles for inspiring humour 🙂

Oh dear. I am sorry to hear about your computer troubles. They do seem to have a life of their own, don’t they? And their life, seems to be the death of ours.

Perhaps your cats have ideas on how to get the tablet up and running. That is, if you bribe them with kibble or something. Although, they may just view the tablet as a new toy.

Hope your laptop gets well soon… I suffer too as I lost 2 external disks; they both crashed when I turned on my pc after our holidays and I nearly missed the heart attack 😀
The big one (1 terrabyte) had ALL my music collection and it was full! The other had 80 gigabytes of my photography, edited and categorized… I just couldn’t believe it happened; Luckily my technician managed to recover the music… phew! But I lost forever the edited photos 😦
