Tales From The River Bank. That’s A Buzz !

Many of you know by now that I have big problems with my vibrating hands.

w23a

w1

~Bank~

Problems, such as extracting euros from a cashpoint in a Spanish village nearby.

w2

Twice, on different occasions, I went to grab hold of the money, instead of which I pushed the euros back into the slot.  Luckily there was enough showing for a friend to extract it.

My true bank is on the coast, 30 miles away.  It’s an international bank and all communications to me are in English.  The local village banks are totally Spanish and my Spanish is limited.  Goodness knows what they are really like >>>

w14

Secondly, because of my hands, I am unable to write >>>>

w13

So I have kept with the coastal bank for a number of years.  I had to do something after pushing the euros back into the ATM slot.  I went to the coast and withdrew a few thousand euros so that I would never have to use a local ATM again ….. well, for a few weeks !

w3

I have guard cats protecting this money 24/7 with dedication and ferocity.

w24a

w1

Happy that both Samantha and Sonic were 0% behind me I took a break from drafting this post and went out onto the rear balcony.  Wow !  The Universe reminded me in the form of a cloud to tell you about what I saw after visiting the coastal bank.

This cloud is a cropped mirror image. Click for the big picture.

This mural is what I saw near the bank.

I emailed a few photos to Resa, who very kindly published a feature post.  Click on Resa’s photo to see the post.  Thank you my friend and the Universe for reminding me ❤

resa200

Well,  that’s it for this post.  Oh no, I spoke too soon !

w1

~River~

w25a

Oh heck !   What now Samantha ?

w27a

What do you mean your bum’s wet ?

w30a

w29a

w26a

w28a

OMG.  You’re right Samantha !

The work surface was covered in water.  Not knowing where it came from and being a Sunday afternoon I turned off the water to the apartment.  The plumber arrived Monday afternoon and on removing one of the overhead cabinets found a broken repair to the hot water pipe in the wall.   It seems that this repair was made during installation of the kitchen units put in a year before I moved into the apartment.

w32

Not having the right welding equipment with him he went away leaving a water bottle to channel the leak to drip into a basin.  At least I had water back on again.

w33

w34

w31

Tuesday afternoon he returned, repaired the pipe, put back the unit and emptied my wallet.  I may have to return to the coastal bank earlier than I had planned.   Oh boy !

w1

~Buzz~

Hornets are really sneaky like my cats.

w35a

Hornets fly into the apartment carrying a bucket of mud and quietly build their nests in inaccessible places.  Last year. I found a huge lump of dried mud on the back corner of a curtain.

w7

This year one built a nest here …..

w8

w9

w10

…. and another here.

w11

w12

Luckily for me, just as the hornets were about to bring in all their relations and lay eggs, the outside temperature shot up into the 40°Cs, peaking at 48° C.  This meant me closing all the windows and doors and running the air conditioning all day and evening.  Yep, the hornets were locked out and never returned once the temperature dropped.

I am unable to climb stepladders, so I will ask Toni, my neighbour, to remove the nests while I take photographs for a future post.  What a buzz !

w1

No wonder I have vibrating hands  !!!!  🙂

w23b

w36a

Oh boy !

w1

Have you tried to give money back to the bank,  or had a leak,  or enjoyed a buzz ?

w1

The ATM, plastic ducks and hornet pictures are not mine.

  1. Best of luck with the plumbing situation. It is draining in more ways than one. I hope you don’t have too many more issues in future. Have a great weekend.

    • Thanks Cookie. When I bought the apartment I thought that as the kitchen was reasonably new I would not have it renovated expecting it to be fine. I don’t think anyone removes kitchen cabinets to have a look before buying. Maybe I should have done. Oh well !
Thank you and have a lovely weekend yourself my friend. Ralph xox ❤

  2. Ralph, I had the bank deposit $2,000,000.00 to our account, (by accident) many years ago. Unfortunately, we had to give it back. Do tell Samantha to be careful with her tail when she is near the burner.
Plumbing can be a real nightmare. Glad it’s fixed.(I’ll send some of that imaginary millions on to you).
    Have a great weekend, Ralph.

Oh wow ! $2 million ! I would be all day at the ATM pushing it back into the slot ! lol
Samantha loves to lay on the hob with her foot on the controls. I know because the hob goes haywire, bleeping and errors showing up. Luckily it never gets hot as I have never used the hob. No need 🙂

    • I must admit that I was so pleased when the plumber left on Monday afternoon leaving me with the hot water on. Two days without water would have been too much in this heat and I would have turned into a stink pot. lol
I totally agree. Hornets are sneaky !

The cats are lovely as ever and their speech bubbles are so funny. Leaks have been the bane of my life you are lucky you were able to sort it out so quickly! 🙂

  3. Ralph, love your buzz post! Shaking my head with your bank, water & hornets problem. And those ferocious guard cats? Don’t think so. They cook up more trouble for you. Maybe you need a guard dog to keep them in line! Have a wonderful weekend. 💛 Elizabeth

A guard dog would be totally useless in my apartment as my cats would probably spend all day and night pinning it down by sleeping on it 🙂

plagued by wasps for weeks now on the big kitchen window . I am totally allergic if stung. Been a nightmare but found all these holes under the mallow tree outside which I reckon is their nest so it is being dealt with. Horrible things.

  11. Ralph i can sympathise with the bumpy fingers problem as i one i share too.
Not only eight out of every ten items i touch jump ship before right destination
-often before i even touch them – but a while back i had punched in a generous
$3000 to send to an eBay seller for a $30 purchase.
Fortunately by a star’s luck my man was looking for something on my desk
and happened to glanced at it just before the crucial ‘send’ click.
Since then i invite him to take a chair and sit beside me for transfers outwards.

I am really going to have to consider what to do with my deposit account ( gives you interest ) as I have not received any interest for over two years now, but they are quite happy to charge me for having that account. Under my mattress seems to be an option. 😉
I don’t have an Internet account. I would do if the disc drawer on my laptop threw out €50 notes. lol
I do hope that your Internet is being sorted now. It can be such a pain sometimes.
Thank you and have a great Sunday evening yourself dear Sonata. Ralph xox ❤

      • Yes, true Ralph, with interest rates so low globally
why bother keeping household running keeping money in an account
instead of under the mattress, especially with 2 fierce guards like Samantha and Sonic.
As for the Internet account that spits money directly on your desk
has been the dream of any housebound person if practically not by everybody.
Perhaps the idea a of allowing specific coded notes -allocated to an account-
to be printed by a home printer and exchangeable at the issuing Bank/account
by whoever at the time is the presenting holder might be a future step
-of a rather more sophisticated and safer solution than this crude one.

In regards to Internet access i have purchased a 5GB wireless internet
to seem me through work until access issues are resolved
so fun chances are zero apart from here that i could not resist.

Thank you for commenting my friend and I will guard the money. No need really as the village thief has finally been jailed for three years after ransacking village homes for over 10 years. It took the Spanish courts that long to process him, meanwhile he was caught many times robbing empty houses and the police had to let him go due to the snails pace of justice. xox

  14. What an interesting post with lots of information. I gathered that the picture of the ATM is not yours as there are Dollars there unless you can magic Dollars into Euros. Glad your cats don’t get a wet bum anymore and it is fixed. Funny how those repairmen do the same everywhere… empty the wallet. And they are very good at that. Those nests are terrible, glad you can remove them without trouble, well Toni can!

  15. Now; I think there is a message from the universe here. If you hadn`t gone to the bank to withdraw the money then the leak would still have been discovered but you would have been under more stress to pay the plumber. Well kind of. Those things are always happening to us. Just when we think we have a bit more money, something happens and we have to pay out said money. Be well my friend.

  17. You had quite the weekend! I especially loved the water bottle temporary fix. I thought those kinds of repairs were relegated to Mexico. Next time I have something go wrong here, I will think of your leak. I sympathize with your atm/money woes. We have had to do lots of workarounds here too. When we first got to Mexico, money was frozen due to U.S. requirements on the banks here. It took the banks about a month to do figure out how to “cooperate” with new U.S. laws. Your mural in the clouds was awesome. Have a great week!
