I’m Not Backing Down !

Three weeks ago, the day after my last post was published I was knocked flat by the flu virus.  Living alone, home chores still had to be done even though all I wanted to do was to stay in bed or lay on the sofa and sleep.

One such job was to change the bag in the bin under the sink in the kitchen.  I bent down to pull the bin out of the cupboard and my lower back snapped.  I was in agony !

This is how my cats saw it !

Oh boy !  Everything about the cats is on the floor.  Their baskets, litter tray, the constant mess they make.  I moved their food and drink on top of a kitchen work surface ….

….. which helped my back a bit, but everything else is almost impossible for me to do.

No.  You are okay Sonic.  Just wait until I get better !

Has a kitchen appliance ever zapped you ?

Ralph xox ❤

I am feeling much better, not quite 100% human.  98% prince, 2% frog (or is it the other way round ?)

Thank you to my blogging friend from the USA who sent me the package which is on its way back to her.  It may not be delivered to her home in America and may be sent back to me in Spain.  What fun !

It may take me a while to answer all your comments as sitting at my laptop is still quite painful.

Happy Easter ! xox

  2. Sorry to hear about your back problems, Ralph. That’s a bummer! It is so difficult to do anything when your back is out of order.
    Happy Easter and take care.

I agree with you as it is a bummer and a shock when it happened, probably a weakness enhanced by the flu. Still, I am feeling much better at the moment, but I won’t be bungee jumping for a while. lol.
Have a great Easter my friend. Ralph xox ❤

      • Very funny as always. Since spending a week with a virtual baby that woke me up 4 times a night I am missing having something to look after and may get a cat. I’m not sure whether your cat stories put me off or not…mind you when my beloved previous cat would vomit all over the carpet I would clean it up willingly!

      • Thanks Carolyn. I am pleased that you enjoyed this post. Lucky you, there is a new post of mine going live in just over an hour. Oh no she says 😉
Oh no I say, I hope I haven’t put you off in getting a cat ! I don’t think I am quite as willing as you in cleaning up after my cats. I have wooden parquet type floors, but Sonic used to try to be sick on the rugs. He would make his funny noise before being sick and usually I got to him, pushed him off the rug and now he does it in the same place on wood which makes me a lot happier as it is easy to clean up.
Have a lovely weekend, well as much as you can having that virtual baby !
        Ralph xox ❤

  3. Oh Dear Ralph, so Sorry to hear, but glad to know you are feeling better.
I have been there –triple home accident– and know what it is like.
I used a good INTERFERENTIAL machine together with a number of other
measures i implemented for Pain Management / Pain Relief
and especially efforts to Reduce Inflammation but still took a while to full recovery.
Evil Bins you know… a couple of decades back when still young, pretty
and healthy i leaned over a Recycling Bin to retrieve an item accidentally falling
into the wrong compartment and misjudging how Dip it was, lost balance
and with feet dangling above ground my entire body weight falling on to my side
cost me a broken Rib which healed fairly quickly back then but started a weakness
    that accelerated over the years.
Take good care of yourself we need You and your Inspiring Humour back
(with your Back intact, LOL!) which i noticed is not missing
    even under such stressful circumstances.
You need to befriend a Good –Cat Loving – Widow with no other Family 🙂
    Enjoy a Hopefully Pain-Less Easter

    • Oh no ! What a story Sonata. I hope the recycling bin wasn’t in your computer. Fancy breaking your rib ! I hope help was near at hand, or did you have to wait for collection day ?
I borrowed a neighbour’s belt which she used when she had a bad back which helped for the first 10 days of very sharp pains, just a niggly ache now, can’t sit upright for long though.
Thank you for such an interesting and fun comment my friend.
Happy Easter ! Ralph xox ❤

Inanimate objects just don’t stand a chance beside loquacious cats and opinionated dogs, normally. They deserve to have a voice, even if only in blog land. Happy Easter X Kate

I hope your darn back gets better soon, it must be so darn difficult keeping up to two demanding cats AND a Bimbo. ❤ 🙂

  9. Sorry to hear that you have not been well, I was wondering. We had lots of flu and viruses going round here too, I am still curing my last cold too. Be careful with your back, that is the worst as you really can’t do much! What an evil bin! I would fill it with even more stinky rubbish, he deserves it. ! Take care and happy Easter!

  16. Happy Easter, dear Ralph!
Hey, my back is not sore, and I have not been zapped, but the cats have it their way any way. I have a 6 ft. long table with a blanky & rug on it along with all cat food, water bowls, & amities .Jeep & Johnny hate eating on the floor. So, now they have the table & I eat on the floor. 😀
The best part is now they love to sit on the table and boss me around as I walk by, or work at my desk, which is beside the table.
Much Love _Resa xoxo #< ❤

  17. Sorry to hear about your injury. I’m glad you are on the mend. As to your question about kitchen appliances zapping people, I have not had that misfortune from an appliance, but once threw my back out removing a large roast turkey from the oven.

    Liked by 1 person

    • Oh no ! What a turkey ! That must have knocked the stuffing out of you. I hope your back has mended. Ralph xox ❤

      • It was a long time ago. Worst thing was I started a new job a couple days later and since I tried to avoid anything heavy other people thought I was lazy. Never got a turkey that big again.
