Number 10 Bus To Tai Chi

~ Come On The Bus With Me ~

Good !  We’ve just crossed the border from Spain into British Gibraltar ….

……and here’s our bus to the centre.

The ticket is €3 each.  We’ll pay our own fares, okay ?  You’ve got a €10 note.  Great !

I’ll pay for yours with it and give you the change.  Here’s your ticket and €4 change, okay ? 😉

Wow ! The bus is almost empty.

Have this seat next to me.

Oh look !  There’s a Red Indian girl about to get on this almost empty bus.

All the seats are now full and there must be about 500 standing on this single-decker bus.

Yay !  Off we go.

Can you see the rock face of Gibraltar……

….the speed detector …..

….and Shopping Susan ?

We’ve arrived at the centre.

I’ve got to go through these arches and have my acupuncture.  See you in a couple of hours, okay ?

That’s the fifth acupuncture session of seven done and dusted.  Time for us to get back for the last train home in Spain.  Come on, we’ve got a bus to catch.  Got your return ticket handy ?  And you owe me €4, okay ?

Not me !

Look at all those people walking across the runway in the searing heat between the Spanish border and Gibraltar town.

Makes you want to go by bus, doesn’t it ?

At last we’ve arrived at the Spanish border.

I hope you enjoyed the bus rides in Gibraltar with me ?  Are you coming with me again ?   If so, bring some euros !  😉

~ I’ve Upgraded To Windows 10 For Free ~

Just before publishing my last post, a pop-up asked me if I wanted to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10.  I clicked okay.  Within a couple of hours my laptop became a great big smart-phone.  I have the choice to revert back to Windows 7 and I have a month to make up my mind then I am stuck with Windows 10 forever.

All my personal files and apps ie. Firefox, CCleaner, Malwarebytes, Photo Editor etc. moved across seamlessly.  Freecell with 1000 games I played vanished, as did many other Windows 7 Microsoft apps, being replaced by simplicity.  And, boy, it loads from switch-on so fast !

The right click on the taskbar icons doesn’t work.  So I have to close all my files manually.  I am sure that any minimal problems will be sorted soon.

I will stick with Windows 10 as Windows 7 will probably go the same way as XP shortly.

Yes it is me !  I am trying to take up Tai Chi, but I feel as clueless as Sherlock Holmes at a Baby Shower.  A group of us with an instructor spent an hour last Tuesday slowly twisting and contorting by the river 50 yards from my apartment.  I enjoyed it !

I got home.  I had awful pains and cramps in my lower limbs for 18+ hours.  Because of this I am now learning a reduced version of Tai Chi.

Would you travel on a number 10 bus to Tai Chi with me ?

  1. Hmm, I do not know. I also got the Windows 10 upgraded too. I am not sure that is a good things or not. Certain things it does so well or better than Win7 but certain things (few little things) just do not work at all. I missed my boot a computer with a press of “Q” button. I can’t do that now and having to reach down to press a power botton on the computer an arm reach away.

    • I agree with you about the differences YC. Other than the right click on the taskbar icons not working right I am quite happy with Windows 10 …… so far.

It’s nice to read that you are getting some exercise with your arm my friend. 😀 lol

  3. So glad your upgrade to Windows 10 went smoothly. I’ve been afraid to click my reminder. I got a new computer which has Windows 8.1 after XP really wouldn’t work anymore. That was an experience because I ended up losing all those “favorites” that it took me forever to collect (and most of which I never touched). Ah, well, I need to just bite the bullet and “do it”. Maybe this week.
Hope the acupuncture is helping. Too bad you can’t get it closer to home.
    Pet the cats for me.

    • I was the same as you Michelle,. I hummed and hahhed for a few weeks then took the plunge upgrading to Windows 10. I am still learning what I can do with it, but seems straight forward. I now have all my utilities ie. Defrag, Control Panel, Notepad etc. pinned to Start so I can access them easily.

The acupuncture is helping. I am even typing better and not double tapping any more. Francesca, my acupuncturist told me that the profession is unregulated in Spain, anyone can set up after a few hours training here. She had to do a 3 year university course plus1500 hours supervised before being let loose on the public. The other reason why I chose an English speaker was communication. There’s a lot of talking during each 2 hour session and my Spanish is abysmal 😀

      • I would also choose the person with the “quality control”. I wouldn’t want just anyone sticking needles in me.
I found out the hard way a year ago when I decided I needed to find a less expensive hair salon so went to the one around the corner. My work experience (welfare office working with a lot of refugees) should have told me not to trust a Vietnamese person who said “Yes, ma’am” and not much else. I say “Do you understand what I want” mumbling in Vietnamese from her employer and she responds “yes ma’am”. I got what I paid for…a $15 haircut. It took six months for it to grow out properly so I could go get the $50 haircut. Yes, $50 but she wonderful…and Native American (the kind whose ancestors where here when the rest of us arrived). I really chose her based on her reputation.
By the way, my Vietnamese is non existent but my Italian is coming along quite well.
I’ll let you know how my change to Windows 10 goes. I’ve only had 8.1 since March and the guys I paid to set it up (a place called Staples where I bought the computer) even gave me my old start screen because they knew the new one would drive me crazy. I bought the book Windows 8.1 for Dummies and only had to refer to it a couple of times and now it’s out of date. Story of my life. The same thing will happen when I finally invest in a “smart” phone

      • That’s quite a hair raising story Michelle. I am sure your upgrade will be okay and do let me know if you do go ahead with it. 😀

  4. My cousin still uses XP and is happy with it. He thinks his chances of being hacked is getting more remote with time.
Hey Ralph, you’re pretty fast with the change. You’ll go far with that. He,he.

    • Hi Georgia. I love those special days, just after the rain which has cleared the sky of the Saharan dust and traffic pollution. The views from the town of Gaucin high up in these mountains is so clear. Below, Gibraltar is so sharp as are the Atlas mountains in Africa on the distant horizon. Beautiful ! Ralph xox ❤

  8. Hmmm, I liked the bus ride. Gibraltar looks so tiny. Interesting for sure. If you have muscle cramps you need to take Co-Q-10. It was suggested by MD and the stuff really works. I was having horrendous muscle cramps that had me hopping up and down and screaming( in a low voice of course). I take it every night and can not get by without the stuff. It’s over the counter at pharmacies.

Sure do hope that Tai Chi will help improve your dizziness, etc. Maybe that’s what I need.
    🙂 Yvonne xox

    • Hi Yvonne. Yes, Gibraltar is tiny, but inside the Rock are over 30 miles of roads etc. built by the British many many years ago mainly for military use.
Thank you so much for the medicinal advice. I may try it.
Tai Chi is not as easy as it looks, but, I hope with practice, it will become easier for me. I hope it works for you.
I was sitting at home in a chair, both arms slowly rotating up and over by my sides like a windmill. As my hands got close to the floor there was a cat by each hand expecting a stroke and rubbing my hands on each rotation. So funny !

  14. My Darling Ralph,
I’m so terrified to ride a bus between cities! A few years ago, a man killed the person next to him with a big knife on a bus ride from Saskatchewan to Manitoba. (Canada)
From then on I only ride local buses & streetcars. They can keep my 4 Euros in Spain.
Wait a minute! Give the 4 Euros to your Tai Chi instructor! I know Tai Chi, & it’s a good thing, but compensation may be needed for knees & ankles.
Anyway, can we travel another way? Train? 🙂 A fast donkey? A slow horse?
    LOL…. ? Where’s the cats?

Heck ! I may have to reconsider going to Gibraltar on Thursday after what you have just written. I could be tied to the railway tracks then run over by my taxi in Spain. THEN stabbed on the bus and licked to death by a Chihuahua on a park bench in Gibraltar. I like the sound of a fast donkey or I could flap my arms Tai Chi style and fly there. 😉 😀 lol
No cats this week. They’re quiet and up to something.

  15. Truly hilarious my friend. Love the bus tour, um, but I think I may take a pass, lol. About Windows 10, I also got that pop up to upgrade from my 8.1. I’ve had enough grief with my 8.1 and 2 hard drive crashes in one year on my one year old computer, I decided not to do it. Inevitably, when Windows first comes out with a new system there will still be glitches. I think I’ll wait until the end of the year when the Xmas sales go on and get me a new Windows 10 laptop. But, in the meantime, I now know who to comes to when issues arise, as I’m sure you will be a pro at it by then. 🙂 xo

      Wikipedia says,
“Europe and Africa are separated by 7.7 nautical miles (14.3 km; 8.9 mi) of ocean at the strait’s narrowest point. The Strait’s depth ranges between 300 and 900 metres (160 and 490 fathoms; 980 and 2,950 ft) which possibly interacted with the lower mean sea level of the last major glaciation 20,000 years ago when the level of the sea is believed to have been lower by 110–120 m (60–66 fathoms; 360–390 ft). Ferries cross between the two continents every day in as little as 35 minutes. The Spanish side of the Strait is protected under El Estrecho Natural Park.”

I am happy that it’s cooler now with a fresh breeze.

  18. Windows 10 is like a giant smarty phone? How trepidatious for an old anachronistic tadpole like me! Sir has a smartsie phone and it is quite beyond me. Hum!! I think I will hang onto 7 until my arms fall off.

VERY thrilling and entertaining post. Loved trundling along on this adventure with you, dear Ralph! Tai Chi is all the rage here on the sea. Speaking of arms falling off, how about joining me for some Kung Fu, next??!

  19. I got the upgrade too for Windows 10 and I love it, I think it is better than 8 which I had. With this you can split the screen into 4… amazing. I think it is good you do Tai Chi, just slow as you have not done any exercise, but this will be very beneficial. Eventually nothing will hurt and you will feel so much better for doing it. Go for it! (As they say: no pain no gain.)

    • I agree with you Ute. I love Windows10 too, especially when I can lock four file folders on the screen. I do a lot of reshuffling of photos between folders; resizing, captioning and finally what I want to upload to WP Media. It will be so much easier for me now.

I have been advised to only do upper body Tai Chi for now. As you say, “no pain, no gain”. Heck ! My arms know about it !

I’m not sure how British commuters would take to being photographed 😀 TTS
