Drippidy Do Dah !

Serious stuff

Four days this week as an out patient at Ronda Hospital, Spain, hopefully on my way to be cured of Lewis Sumner.

Monday. Gloria the Neurologist said 2 hours on Thursday in the Drip ward.

Thursday. On the drip. Angela the Neurologist came in and extended the treatment through Friday into Saturday.

Drip department closed on Saturday so had to have the drip inΒ  Emergency.

Sunday onwards this week a course of tablets

Fun Stuff

Saturday morning early. I made my coffee. Took it to my desk in the other room. Half way there my hands went crazy. Half a cup of hot coffee ended up on the floor and on my desk. What a mess, especially when the cats ran through it while I was getting the mop !

This was the last straw ! My coffee stays by the kettle and I drink it via the last straw !

d3

d1

It was all arranged in Emergency so I was attended to straight away. No 4 hour wait thank heavens !

d12

d1

Got to make the best of it and be happy !

Toni, my neighbour, with one month to go, is a godsend as she drove me the many miles to/from the hospital and did all the talking to the doctors and nurses. We had fun.

d13

d1

The nurse on the left misunderstood my Como te llama ? (What’s your name?)Β  who answered Bien bien ! We laughed and she showed me her ID on her chest which was the wrong way round, just a white blank. So Maria was called by me Bien Bien Blanco !

Vera, a student nurse on the right, was Maria’s Siamese twin who followed Maria around the drip ward. Vera’s English is brilliant !

Did you faint ? Sorry, my charisma has that effect !

Now, about this ‘drip’ ward. I don’t think you’re a drip, far from it! So, they had you in the wrong place, didn’t they?

Mate, I hope all that stuff works magic on you, so you may stride out confidently, cup of coffee grasped in manly hand. All your groupies will be wishing the very same.

Big fat hug to you, mio amico. And, a gentle bite from Minx. oxo πŸ™‚ ❀

I find it so difficult to do anything of any sense at the moment. I hope the IV and tablets work.
That is one thing I forgot to mention. As I am registered as a Spanish pensioner with the Spanish National Health, everything is free except for the tablets. The doctor types the prescription in the computer. I go to any Farmacia in the hospital area. Give the pharmacist my card who slots it in the keyboard and voila, the tablets are given to me. I had to pay the exorbitant amount of about US 50c in total for the three packets in this post. A token payment I suppose πŸ˜€

  10. Hugs dear Ralph. I can relate to the spillage. I spill constantly and the cats are always ready to immediately skate right through it, eyes ablaze, as cat eyes often are…as they then dash off to happily lick coffeed or tea-stained or what-ever-else-stained paws, expanding the range of mess to clean up in their gambolling wake. One cat loves to step right in paint when she assumes I have sloppily “spilled” it onto a canvas and made it all ready for her to step in. She loves to make paw-prints on the canvas in triumph and chirp. She is almost 17 now and still thinks this is the funniest activity in the world. She loves to fetch locusts, unharmed, too. Did I ever tell you this? Why am I telling you this? I am not going to write another word about it….

Hope these treatments are helping, dear friend, most ardently so. Sending positive thoughts of healing and peace and joy your way. Your courage and your wonderful outlook are such an inspiration, dear friend. Looking forward to the next adventure you share.

And these particular felines send their greetings, and regrets that they cannot be there yowl piteously, climb up and turn your clothes into tattered shreds, stomp on your face, and crash through the house as they gallop in wild stampedes, creating incessant chaos in their swirling-tailed wake, all in order to comfort you and bring you solace, as they do here, every day, out of the love of their fine furry little hearts πŸ˜‰ They hope your felines have all these very important duties thoroughly covered.

Tapering off. I’m on day #1. 5 days on 60gm, then 5 days on 50gm and so on down to zero. A months course. No more IV. But the Neurologist did tell me that if this lot doesn’t work she may put me through this cycle again.

My course of treatment began last Thursday. Almost immediately my ankles swelled. Saturday I threw coffee everywhere. Yesterday, my first day of tablets was a weird feeling day. Monday, this morning, I got up to go to the bathroom and almost collapsed as I had a massive intense tingling and the circulation throughout my body almost dropped me to the floor. It’s 2 hours later and I’m about recovering, feeling a bit more normal. I don’t want to experience that again ! Scary !

      • good morning, while I butt in…Ralph I am commenting about your comment that when the med is done you think the tingling and circ. things will stop, those are NOT from the steroid, it means that at the point they began your condition began to show again and that you probably need at least a return to that dosage point for a bit or to begin again, since I am NOT a medical doctor, your doctor would have to decide that. In any case those are symptoms like many experience with a rebound of condition or too fast a taper. Wish you well!

I know it is not fun to be stuck at the hospital because I take care of my elderly father. He also has some health problems, and he has trouble walking. Most of the time we can wait one to three months between doctor visits and lab work, but sometimes we end up going to the hospital more frequently if a problem arises.
