I’m Fridge~id !

f10

I’m afraid so ! I know I’m dangerous in the kitchen but I have to eat during the day !

Now what’s in the fridge ?

f8a

Nothing in the freezer ! See what else I’ve got !

f7

What do you suggest I have to eat ?

f1g

What do you think cat ?

Eat me fish ! PLEASE !

f11g

Maybe I could make a jelly ! But my hands are so bad !

f5g

And to think I’ve got a problem ! There’s always someone worse than me !

f6g

I give up in the kitchen !Β  I think I’ll sit down ……..

f9

……….and watch someone else make breakfast.

f12

Β

f12

That was fun ! I decided on a cheese and tomato sandwich for lunch. That’s safe. No cutting required.

I asked Toni (my Spanish neighbour who cooks my evening meal every night) to cut everything for me.

This is what she prepared tonight. Every night it’s something different !

f13

Maybe I’ll buy some grapes for tomorrow

f14g

f12

How would you organise my fridge…..and my lack of culinary expertise ?

  1. I believe I would be on a liquid diet.

Sadly, my fridge is no better when I am on my own. Pretty pitiful (for me) LOL

    • Hi Not πŸ˜€ I’ll join you in being pitiful. Other than cereals for breakfast and a cheese & tomato sandwich for lunch that would be me for the day. Luckily I have a proper meal around 10pm or I would look like a matchstick with the wood scraped off. A mutual pitiful hug. Ralph xox ❀

    • Hi YC πŸ˜€ That’s why I need help to fill the fridge with the right easy things for me to eat. I am useless at shopping and seem to end up with a shopping bag full of doughnuts, chocolates and other delights, but very little for the fridge. Ralph πŸ˜€

That Toni is worth her weight in gold, isn’t she? Give her a big hug from me. Have they chosen a name for the bambino? What about Zeus??

    • Hi Yvonne πŸ˜€ I am wondering what “seriously better than mine” means ? Perhaps yours is like a local friend of mine half containing half a supermarket and the other half, containers of odds and ends left over from meals long forgotten πŸ˜‰
Toni is wonderful, isn’t she ? She has looked through all your baby name comments and still hasn’t made her mind up yet. There’s three months to go before the baby is born. So no rush !

Thanks for making my kitchen groan and the casserole advice. The only electrical devices I have used over the last 2 years in the kitchen are the lights, fridge and toaster. The hob and oven are ornaments !

  7. What a clean fridge you have, Ralph. A little sparse, but mighty clean. Mine has lots of uneaten leftovers in it! They usually get tossed. I don’t know why I save them at all. Lately, I have been a little better about eating them. What a nice neighbor you have. Your meal looks delicious!

    • Hi Amy πŸ˜€ Like most of the other commenters you probably have a family to feed. So I do understand your predicament. I used to cook. I daren’t even try now. For instance cereals always end up all over the work surface when I am filling the bowl. Also it works out cheaper for Toni to cook for me. It also gives her the incentive to give her family a decent meal every night. So we are both happy with the arrangement. Ralph xox ❀

  8. Nothing wrong with doughnuts….. Since you still get his wonderful meal from Toni , and I know she is a great cook, you don’t need a lot. Beers, cider cheese, bread and ham would do for me. … and never run out of tea and biscuits….
Or go for a daily walk to the shop for lunch and buy something ready made.
(top tip…you should probably through out the 2 year old stuff…. ) πŸ™‚

    • Hi Ute πŸ˜€
Thank you so much for your advice especially about the doughnuts. I have kept those 2 year old vegetables in the freezer as I understand the freezer works better with something in it. I will get rid of them and replace them with boxes of ice cream I think and send the vegetables off to the Antiques Roadshow.

  9. MFR, my dear, your lack of culinary experience, I fear, is greatly exaggerated, but this makes a great story. Personally, I think you are awesome at whatever you set your mind and will to do. πŸ™‚ If cooking and eating was it, then cooking and eating you would do. I agree with Carolyn and with ksbeth. 16. I think you have to buy already all fresh- cut vegetables and put it into your fridge ( so if you’re able you can use them in a home-made soup where you have only to stir them and maybe if you want to do it by yourself ask your lovely neighbour ! Than to have always in the house some fresh eggs (eggs are so easy to break I think ), cheese, milk and naturally some meat or fish who you already have had cooked in little meals, so you only have to warm them up ! Hope I could help you in this way dear Ralph πŸ™‚ !

  18. Thank you for liking “Autumn Splendor.” You should probably get newer bread, and getting rid of the two-year old frozen vegetables would be a good idea too. I have a couple of suggestions for foods that are easy to cook. Instant oatmeal would be easy to cook if you can manage to boil water. There are also different types of nut spreads such as peanut butter or almond butter that you could use for sandwiches. However, it would not be worth getting these things if you don’t like them or are allergic to them. I am so glad you have Toni to help you. πŸ™‚

Your post reminded me that I have to be careful about leaving the refrigerator door open too long because of my cats. One time, I left the door open and then shut it without looking inside. A few minutes later, I heard muffled meowing coming from the refrigerator. When I opened the door again, one of my cats jumped out from a small empty space in the refrigerator. Luckily, I was around to let him out right away. πŸ™‚

    Like

    • Hello Arlene πŸ˜€ Thank you so much for your dietary advice. I will take your suggestions to heart. And your cat story is so funny. I am always locking my black cat in cupboards or out on the balcony at night. They are so fast, aren’t they ? Ralph xox ❀

      Like

  19. Yes, cats are fast and very quiet too. πŸ™‚ Luckily my cupboard cabinets do not lock shut, so there is no danger of my cats being trapped inside of them. The car trunk is another favorite place my cats like to go inside of. I also have to be careful to check inside there before I close the door.

I did a little research about storing bread and found out that it is better to avoid storing bread in the refrigerator because the bread will go stale faster in there. There are two good ways to store bread. You can keep it in its original packaging at room temperature. However, it will only keep fresh for a few days. You can also freeze wrapped bread for up to three months. (Source: “Keeping Bread Fresh” – bread.com). I hope this information helps you in your attempt to reorganize your refrigerator.
