Howdy Pardner !!

Howdy pardner ! I have recently acquired four new hats. Well, winter is on it’s way. I didn’t have a hat for a while as I stomped on my Gravatar one when you all loved my hat instead of me in my Are You Following Me ??? post. I have not got over that !! Maybe I never will.

I shouldn’t have really worried about getting new hats as my hair is too long. When I walk around I trip over it. So I should get it cut before the sparrows start nesting in it. Long hair is great for the winter as my head can curl up inside and be lovely cuddly warm.

How do you keep your head warm ??

  1. That’s a cool hat!
I keep my head warm with a fine – almost human looking wig. Lol . I have several. I have the Dian Ross look, Tina Turner and Whitney Houston look. And sometimes, I even wear a hat on the wig. Great fun. The bad news is boyfriends don’t like it too much when I take my hair off. 😦 xoxo

    • Hi Wambui πŸ˜€ Wow. That is quite a selection of wigs !! I love the looks.
My Jamaican first wife, for 14 years, wore wigs as she hated her short curly hair. Because of this we had no need to keep cats πŸ˜‰ I didn’t mind the different looks that she surprised me with. Ralph xox πŸ˜€

  2. Yee-ha, pardner! You’d fit in with the blokes Down Under, no worries. I’m a hot head, so I have no problems keeping that part of my anatomy warm. See ya, cobber. πŸ™‚

    • Yee-ha Yvonne πŸ˜€ I don’t think I would be a down-under bloke as I’m not into rugby, cricket or beer. Mind you, hot headed Sheilas could be an interesting pastime πŸ˜‰ Ralph xox πŸ˜€

    • So what do I do to not disappoint you Gallivanta ? If I wore the four hats at once it will go viral, be the highlight of next year’s Paris Fashion Week πŸ˜‰ Ralph xox πŸ˜€

  3. Well yeeeeehaaawwww. Love the new look! Some gentlemen can not pull off hats, but you, my friend, can!
Anything to stay warm-that is my motto. I must go find some hats so I can stop burrowing under blankets. 8)

    • I’ll pull off or even take off my hat for you any time my friend. As far as burrowing I knew you are a fluffy bunny πŸ˜‰ Ralph xox πŸ˜€

  4. Hi Ralph!
I didn’t know you stomped on your Gravatar hat 😐 We see those hats all the time on display in shops here – we call them Ralph hats! I don’t think I could get used to you in any other hat… maybe now I know what we will send you for your birthday!

I love hats, but I know better than to buy any – unless it’s bitter cold outside I never wear one. The ones I have bought are sitting in a lovely display on my dresser. I saw a really cool hat recently that I might have bought and and possibly would wear only I’d rather spend any money I have on the kiddos…

You’re not going to cut your hair, are you? Maybe just a trim, to keep from tripping? You could always tuck your long locks up under your hat!

    Hugs ❀

    • Thank you for your long and lovely comment Lyann. Hats off to you for resisting buying another hat. Yes. I may have to trim my hair before 2014 πŸ˜‰ Take care. Ralph xox πŸ˜€

  5. You look great with that hat. I keep warm by wrapping my head in a giant bandana…nice and toasty!

    • I must wear my glasses when I read your comment Liz, as I was taken aback when you wrapped your head in a giant banana. πŸ˜‰ I must go to Specsavers. Ralph xox πŸ˜€

    • Hi Heila πŸ˜€ It’s still hot during the day here in southern Spain but beginning to cool down. A hat would keep you cool …… perhaps a sombrero ? πŸ˜‰ Ralph xox πŸ˜€

    • Those should keep you roasting warm Beth πŸ˜€ And thanks for the “cute hat Ralph” πŸ™‚ Ralph xox πŸ˜€

    • Fantastic ! Birds in your curls … Curlews perhaps ? πŸ˜‰
You would have disappointed me, my friend, if your love of hats was anything less than a fetish πŸ˜‰ Ralph xox πŸ˜€

  6. I think you look great with the long hair as in this picture. I am not sure why that excludes wearing hat. Only concern is to keep it clean and out of the way. To keep my head warm? Hmm. I stay inside.

    • A hibernating YC !! What a clever idea. See you next spring then πŸ˜‰
Head & Shoulders would go bust if it wasn’t for me going through a bottle a week. I must wash my hair with it sometime πŸ˜‰ hehe. Ralph xox πŸ˜€

  7. You look good in hats! I bought a Buff recently to keep my head warm. I haven’t fully tested it yet, but mountain hikers wear them, so they must work, right?

    • Hi Rene πŸ˜€ I googled Buff and found out it is a multi-purpose fabric tube. So when are you going mountaineering then ? That would make a great post πŸ˜‰ Ralph xox πŸ˜€

      • Because my daughter has been preparing for a big hike, I’ve been accompanying her on some small ones locally, but I would like to do a big one someday and get some great pics. xoxo πŸ˜€

  8. Yee-Haw! Nice sombrero Ralph!
I say keep the curls for the winter.
As for me keeping warm – I wear a warm cap, sometimes a headband too, & the hood of my coat. I’m always cold. So- the more layers – the better. I ned to move somewhere warmer.
    xx Saludos y Abrazos xx

    • Yee-Haw RoSy πŸ˜€ I agree that I should keep my curls to help me keep warm this winter. You do wear a lot of layers, a regular lasagne. The kitchen is usually quite warm… you could move into there πŸ˜‰ Just a thought. Ralph xox πŸ˜€

      • I don’t know about moving into the kitchen. It tried to burn me once already.
I do confess – after hubby uses the oven – I go stand by it when he opens it & just stand there to warm up. If not for the kids & my furry son – I’d walk away & leave it open until all of the heat was completely out.

      • You’ve got to keep warm RoSy. Here a big hug which should help for a few seconds πŸ˜‰ I assume your “furry son” is either a Yeti or your cat. I hope it’s not the former…….run for your lives !! πŸ˜‰

  9. Lovely photo Ralph and I don’t suffer too much of coldness on my dead, but if……… I have selection of warm trendy hats that I’m very fond of it !

    • Hi Shiro πŸ˜€ I am sure that you have the trendiest hats in the land. You could always use a bra as a warming emergency. I just found this on Google. Hehe !! Ralph xox πŸ˜€

      • A wonderful hat, almost as wonderful as your hat Ralph… “lol”

        I never wear hat, maybe I will change that now… πŸ™‚ πŸ˜‰

      • I was going to reveal that I was going to buy one of those padded ear warmers that you showed us in your trip through the market, so thanks for posting how such a warmer should be worn to get maximum warmth out of this accessory.

  10. I like the hat, Ralph – it suits you.
I have a knit green hat with a brim that my husband doesn’t like. I have had a lot of fun bugging him with it over the years, pretending I’m going to wear to various work functions, etc. πŸ˜‰

    • With so much on nobody would know that anyone was in there πŸ˜‰ Happy Thursday Sheri. Ralph xox πŸ˜€

  11. Four new hats – what a splurge!! Is one of them a Mickey Mouse hat? If not, then you must get yourself over to Disneyland right away!! Anywho, I keep my head warm by living in Southern California! Oh, and I’m letting my hair grow out a little bit longer too! Have a lovely day Ralph!

    • No. I haven’t got a MM hat, but you can buy me one when I visit you in Disneyland ……. you live in the big Castle… yes ?? πŸ˜‰ You’re just a copycat ….. growing your hair because I am. Hehe !! And have a lovely day yourself my friend. Ralph xox πŸ˜€

      • Hehe – yes, I live in that big Castle and I love it! And no, I’m not copying you with growing my hair out. I need to grow it long so I can let people climb into my castle on my hair. So there! πŸ™‚

      • πŸ˜† So how many princes do you think will make that daunting climb when your hair has grown long enough ? I’ll just open the door and take the elevator πŸ˜‰ hehe

  12. Hi Ralph, you missed the point on your gravatar hat (the original one) what made it so special was that it suited you so perfectly. It was Ralph’s hat (the adventurer,explorer,self-made man – the hat epitomized you!) Just so you know – not the hat itself! But you knew that, dear friend (p.s.- keep your hair long, a good thing! πŸ™‚ Penny xoxo

    • Hey Penny, ,,, hi !! πŸ˜€
I am going to keep the original avatar picture in my Gravatar as bloggers, without thinking, will know straight away that I have liked a post.
Do you want the truth about my old hat ? I didn’t stomp on it !! Well, one very hot summer’s day a goat herder was in a field without a hat. So I gave him mine with a bottle of cold water I was carrying on my walk. That made his day !!
I hope you are having a lovely day my friend. Ralph xox πŸ˜€

      • Well, your story just proved my point, not only an adventurer but an incredibly lovable and caring one! You also Ralph, a most excellent Friday and weekend for you! πŸ™‚ xo

    • Wow !! And a Yippee ki-yay to you Elizabeth πŸ˜€ Oh yes, your fondness of hats is quite topping my friend. Thanks for the big HUGS as I am well and truly squished now πŸ˜‰ Ralph xox πŸ˜€

  13. I have a black hat, it kinda looks like those Michael Jackson wore :p and I have a cap but if it is really cold (below 0 celsius), the hood of my winter coat is the best.
How cold is the winter at yours?

I love your blog’s background, by the way. πŸ˜€

    Love and Light

    • Hello again Fillandra πŸ˜€
Hat ! Cap ! Hood ! Quite a selection ! Got to keep warm though πŸ˜€
I have been here in the mountains of southern Spain for over 11 years now and although the mountain tops are sometimes covered in snow I think that I have only seen a couple of days of light snow where I live. It gets cold but not unbearably so.
      Big hug. Ralph xox πŸ˜€

      • Spain! How cool is that! So you speak spanish? I’m learning it at times. I’m pretty much a beginner though. πŸ˜€

      • My Spanish is awful but I get by. The local dialect is very difficult to understand as they do not use the letter “s”, so gracias is grathia …… no hope for me πŸ˜€

      • Hey πŸ™‚ just found your answer, wp didn’t notified me.

Gracias… i learned that when there is a ci or ce you speak it like english th…
and yea when they swallow the endings they are hard to understand, cubans do that too and they speak quicker that you can think ^^

How do you communicate? Does english work? I imagen a sittuation right now, where I use my few spanish words, arms and leg to try to tell somebody what I want lol

I think la naranja is the word (of those I know) which is most hard to speak out right now. Some R’s are complecated too ^^

      • I get by, but have given up on the grammar. I am still alive after 11 years in Spain, so I must me doing something right πŸ™„

      • Cool smiley!

Have tried to learn german? Maybe you should because for me as a german I think spanish is actually pretty easy (even easier than english). I only should use more of my time to learn.

What brought you to Spain? The good weather? πŸ™‚

      • I am brilliant at maths, physics …. sciences but languages go in one ear and out the other with me. I need to live with a Spaniard and be forced to only speak Spanish to learn. I know a little German …… Otto is his name πŸ˜‰ hehe

  14. You got quite a lot of comments here! Like the hat, but want to say “Howdy” when I see it! I wear hoods and usually don’t like hats. But while sledding will wear a knit cap! Take it easy, Ralph and enjoy the 4 new hats!

    • I’ll have to install an elevator for you to travel through these comments Robin πŸ˜‰ And thank you for your lovely comment. Ralph xox πŸ˜€

  15. Congratulations on your new hats! πŸ™‚ You look very well, my Friend! Suits you! πŸ™‚ Although I’m afraid I’ll be having to wear warmer hats than that, here in Poland… As for now, my long hair is just enough ;). No nest in it. Yet.

    • Thank you my friend. Poland is probably a lot cooler than Spain so a big furry hat will keep the birds at bay πŸ˜‰ Have a lovely evening. Ralph xox πŸ˜€

  16. Hi MFR, I LOVE you hair in this picture! Keep the curls for sure! Don’t EVER go real short again!! EVER!! Even in the summer. BTW how is that hat going to keep you warm? It has holes in it. V wears those kinds of hats in the summer in 110 degrees. In the winter I wear a hood with a favorite headband that I made or a scarf that a friend’s mom knitted for me. I like things tight and very soft. πŸ™‚ xox M

    • I’ve not cut my hair yet MVBFM. The one hat I was wearing is a summer one. I have two waterproof hats for the inclement weather or when I have a shower πŸ˜‰ hehe. You have a lot of nice homemade items. Ralph xox πŸ˜€

      • But I’m not great at making straw hats! Sorry Ralph. How many hand-knitted caps would you like? Mittens, maybe to go with your kittens? A nice scarf?

      • I have thermal gloves and loads of scarves but nothing knitted as I don’t think I’m the type to wear a knitted cap with a pompom ….. mind you my cats would play havoc with a pompom πŸ˜€

      • As soon as I finish my book, be on the lookout for a pretty cap to come your way in the next year or four! tee hee. I haven’t tried pom poms, but there’s always a first. My step-son wears a knitted cap almost full time, inside and out. I didn’t make it, either, MFR. πŸ™‚

  17. My head stays warm at night with my cat curled around the top, like a hat. She doesn’t do this during warm weather.

    • So funny Mary. I can just imagine how you look with your kitty head warmer. Mine nestle between my legs and against my chest. I can’t move !! Ralph xox πŸ˜€
