Destufficationalistically Speaking !!

That’s easy for me to say !! ( You will like that big word Christina ).

Now that the renovations on my apartment are finished ( Yippee ! ) I decided that as it was raining this week I would go through all my “stuff” and throw out or give away anything that I haven’t used for a long, long time.

My Dream

To reduce my “stuff” to a negligee negligible amount.

For example. My bedroom cupboard……

….. which is full of paperwork reduced to ……

That didn’t work as the cupboard looks the same …. ish !!

Another example is the cupboard above the stairs. Empty it ……

….. and replace my “stuff” with a Toni.

That also didn’t work as she went home with piles ofΒ  “stuff” that I didn’t want and the cupboard looks the same ….. ish !!

Pedro took bags of “stuff” to the dump which now looks like this …

The Reality

After a few days of going through my “stuff” muttering phrases such as:

“I didn’t know I had THAT !!”

“What in heaven’s name is THAT ??”

“I had better keep THAT ….. just in case !!”

“THAT’s totally useless, but I’ll keep it as I like it !!”

( And I’ve pulled my back moving heavy boxes 😦 )

So. After a few days of going through my “stuff”

  1. Total proof that we could all get rid ourselves of stuff and never miss it! πŸ˜‰

Hope your back is feeling better. 8)

    • Hi Katie πŸ˜€ I missed your comment as I went out for a walk to the store. So I will relax now and stuff myself with the goodies I bought ….. then, never miss them !!
No. I need a massage ……. by comment will do πŸ˜‰ Ralph xox πŸ˜€

      • ~~~massage~~~ β€’ oops πŸ˜‰
Hope you enjoyed your treats! 8)

      • Your eyes are feeling heavy
        Focus on the dot
Your eyes close, you are relaxed
I am going to count to 3 and you will awake calm and rested and every time you hear “hello” you will not be able to resist saying “meow”
        πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

      • Well hello! Hope your day is going well. Be sure to say hello to all your friends for me. Oh, and tell the shopkeeper hello for me next time you go for treats.
Your meow needs some work ROFL
I was thinking chickens but typed cats. How did you know? πŸ™‚

      • You said “hello” Katie ……. *cluck*. πŸ˜€
I honestly didn’t know that you were thinking of chickens when you typed cats. This is a job for the Eggs Files to solve. πŸ˜‰
I will say hello ……*cluck* *cluck* to all that you mention. It’s quiet today. No one about as it’s raining.
Are you a skilled Acupuncturist as well ?

  2. At least you tried! And you seem to have way less stuff than I do, so that’s a bonus. Guess you still have a bit of a stuff up on your hands; sorry, in your cupboards. πŸ™‚ Plus you have stuffed your back!

    • I am totally stuffed my friend πŸ˜‰ Toni took a massive pile of items and my cupboards still look full. It feels like I have been banging my head on the wall all week. Perhaps I did !! πŸ˜‰ Ralph xox πŸ˜€

      • Well, if you made a hole in the wall, you have plenty of stuffing to fill it with πŸ˜‰

      • Engineering bricks, cement and my head don’t mix Gallivanta πŸ˜‰

  3. Isn’t it impressive what we have stored in our storage rooms. in the attic, under our beds and in closets – when we “find” it again, so we do not know why we did it… πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ˜‰

    • Hi Drake πŸ˜€ My father’s attic was cleared when my parents died and it was full from floor to ceiling with all the empty boxes that things came in collected over 50 years. God knows why, as they never were going to move house. Ralph πŸ˜€

  4. I can’t do this dear Ralph, always I come to the beginning as you… Thank you, have a nice weekend, love, nia

    • I know you are almost always first to comment Nia. I missed you sooo much. If you can’t do it …. don’t !! And may you have a lovely weekend as well. You can relax as I am not doing another post this weekend. Ralph xox πŸ˜€

  5. And another point, DIY projects…. they make me crazy, so I keep so many things for a new projects πŸ™‚ Yes, I am a crazy one… Love, nia

    • Ah yes. DIY !! May I make a suggestion … your new projects …… or do what I do …… get a local tradesman to do it for you. Big hug crazy one. Ralph xox πŸ˜€

  6. I hope you feel bit better after get rid of stuff in the house. I know that condition might last long (other things come an fill the space back on) but that is better than not thing.

    Have a good weekend πŸ™‚

    • That is the big problem YC, “stuff” breeds, mutates, grows and overwhelms !! I have found a solution. “Stuff” contraception …….in other words, I haven’t got a woman in the apartment who buys “things” πŸ˜‰ Ralph xox πŸ˜€

  7. We’ve only lived here for 2 years, and already I’m thinking “Where did all this STUFF come from?” 😦 Well done for at least making an effort, Ralph. Have a clutter-free weekend. πŸ™‚

    • Thanks Sylvia πŸ˜€ Things must be bad to ask that question after only 2 years. Please don’t say that you have a cement mixer in your knicker drawer πŸ˜‰ That’ll be too much !! Happy Saturday my friend. Ralph xox πŸ˜€

    • Oooh !! I read this a while ago and I couldn’t wait to reply after the others above you. I thought about what to say …… rehearsed it ….. washed up …… watched Stargate Atlantis ……. and here I am Georgia. All yours. And I’ve forgotten what I was going to say …….. Uuuuhhhhggggg! πŸ˜‰
Anyway. Thank you so much for your explicit and highly emotional comment, full of drama, expression and short & to the point. Big Ug. Ralph xox πŸ˜€

  8. Can’t believe that it all looks the same ! But still you did a good job Ralph, have a very pleasant weekend πŸ™‚ !

    • Same…..ish Shiro πŸ˜€ The cupboard above the stairs had containers. In the containers were boxes and in the boxes ….. “stuff”…… and a lot of that has gone, but the containers are still in there. The paperwork in my bedroom has been reduced. ie. 11 years of old bank statements reduced to 5 years (for good behaviour πŸ˜‰ ). Have a great weekend my friend. Ralph xox πŸ˜€

  9. Hilarious as usual. There is a smaller word for your big one…’Packrat’. Lol, it’s a man thing. πŸ™‚

    • Hi Debby πŸ˜€ The Urban Dictionary says that a Pack Rat is “a person who stores anything they acquire and will discard none of it.” A bit like a Prince of Persia and his harem then !! πŸ˜‰ Ralph xox πŸ˜€

  10. Rule of thumb – if you haven’t used it in the last 12 months you should throw it out, give it away. But I promise you….as soon as you do that, you will suddenly need it!

    • Oh dear. I haven’t used my brain for the last 15 months since I started blogging. So out it goes……….. no difference !! I don’t think I will need it around here πŸ˜‰ Take care Tracy. Ralph xox πŸ˜€

  11. Stuff has a mysterious way of multiplying. Seems like I get rid of one thing & 2-3 things replace it.
LOL on the man tin πŸ˜†
    xx Saludos y Abrazos xx

    • Good afternoon Rosy πŸ˜€ Ute gave me the Man Tin when she visited. I might do a post on what’s in there when it’s full. That should be fun. Have a lovely Saturday my friend. Ralph xox πŸ˜€

    • Good morning Beth πŸ˜€ I’ll ask the universe to come round and it can have anything it needs. I’ve got an old coat it can have, as it must be cold between the stars πŸ˜‰ Ralph xox πŸ˜€

    • Yes thank you my friend πŸ˜€ It is much better now. I am too tall. Not designed for carrying heavy things. Like an idiot I do it anyway !! Ralph xox πŸ˜€

  12. Just hilarious Ralph, made my evening for me, only you could make a laborious chore fun!. Your approach to organizing, sorting, and reducing-ish seems absolutely perfect to me! xo

    • Why thanks Penny πŸ˜€ I had a lie in this morning as the clocks went back an hour which was nice. What else is nice is that my cupboards are done. I just hope I can find things that I may need πŸ˜‰ Have a lovely Sunday my friend. Ralph xox πŸ˜€

      • Sounds quite pleasant, hopefully you’ll still be able to locate needed items in your now nicely organized cupboards. You also have an excellent Sunday evening, Ralph, and an even better week ahead, my friend! πŸ™‚ xo

  13. Sometimes it is hard to get rid of stuff and more so if you have the space to store it…heehee
hope your back is better πŸ˜€

    • That is so true Patricia. Space attracts stuff πŸ˜†
Thanks for asking. My back is much better now. I hope you are having a lovely colourful week. Ralph xox πŸ˜€

  14. Hey Ralph, I think I come over and clean out your cupboards! I’m ruthless when it comes to getting rid of stuff. If I see something I haven’t used in awhile, it goes in my “give away” box immediately. Just let me at your stuff, come on, let me at it!!! πŸ™‚

    • Go for it Ruthless Celeste !! Get in there girl !! There’s no holds barred !! My stuff is yours to sort out ! Where were you a week ago ? πŸ˜‰ Ralph xox πŸ˜€

    • So funny, Celeste! I bet Mambo knows how to help you with cleaning too.

  15. Oops, I missed the words “need to” in that first sentence. I guess I was so in the mode of getting rid of stuff I got rid of some words. See how good I am – hehe!

    • Please don’t throw out “need to”. I am very attached to “need to”. I need to keep “need to” as it may come in handy one day πŸ˜‰ Ralph xox πŸ˜€

  16. Dear friend Ralph,

You might just find your reading glasses in one of these closets! Or perhaps the LED batteries. πŸ™‚

    • So that’s where I am going wrong by not putting batteries in my glasses πŸ˜‰ *rummaging in my cupboards* hehe.
Have a lovely day dear Nancy. Ralph xox πŸ˜€

  17. That Man Tin is a riot. Makes me think of that beef jerky commercial, where the paramedics bring over their “Manmergency” bag. That jumping kitty you got on the right is so cute! FUN.

    • Hi “sf” πŸ˜€ Ute’s present of the Man Tin is fun. I am filling it gradually with Man Things and will do a post of what is in there in the future. Should be interesting !! The kitty is also a fun addition to my sidebar. I love it.
You have probably got the most incognito blog around, untitled, no avatar etc. different !! Good posts as well. Ralph xox πŸ˜€

      • This was like my 8th blog that I had made and decided to make myself stick to it. But its title I definitely could not decide on. I think one of the reasons I had nixed the previous blogs was because I didn’t like what they were called. They were all too cheesy soundin’. So far, this untitled one is the longest one running, so maybe I will end up sticking to it. We shall see.

Heck, if I had half as much an interesting life as yours, I’d give all the details about me in my blog. But unfortunately, my boring life and all the blah-ness about it will just make any reader fall asleep. Thanks for makin’ a stop by!

      • 8th blog !! Wow !! I refuse to sleep reading your posts. Honest !! πŸ˜€

  18. Oh, this is a job for me! I’m great at reducing stuff and making space! You need me, Ralph. Pick me, pick me! πŸ™‚

And what a life poem you created there! How I know it! Don’t we all? πŸ˜‰

  19. I can’t picture you as a clutterholic, MFR. Your knicker drawers are neat as a pin, and now I find out something out of order in your life – never! You have spoiled my image of you. Of course you did buy 4 hats, not 1. And we wonder how things mount up. One of my male friends rarely lets anyone in the house – he meets them on the porch. I had to use the restroom once. The pathway through the ceiling high stuff on either side of the 3 feet wide living space was cluttered with slippers and such. Your place looks marvelous. πŸ™‚ xox

    • Hi MVBFM πŸ˜€ Oh. You remember my post when Sonic, my black cat, was wandering around in my drawers πŸ˜‰ That was ages ago in April. I have watched a series on TV called Hoarders where a team go into people’s houses to try to clear the floor to ceiling piles of junk that people won’t let go of. I could never live like that. Ralph xox πŸ˜€

      • You or me either! Those places are more than dangerous! My friend’s place is a step below that show! When I was a kid I remember stories when my great grandparents had to clean out a nephew’s home after he passed. It took them 3 months to discover the couch! He used money as book marks, so they had to check everything. I believe he had three new sewing machines. That’s not my style either, but it’s a constant battle, isn’t it, MFR?

      • I don’t find the battle that difficult as I only buy what I need (though unwanted presents are a nuisance, but can be recycled and passed on as presents to others) and I put things away once used.

      • So are you saying that the new knitted cap that I make you would be a nuisance. After it takes me months to make it???? Or you would give your new, beautifully knit cap (with only a few prominent errors) to someone else?!! Tears are flowing heavily! πŸ™‚

  20. Had a good laugh at this one – seems you were watching me the other day, eh?

  21. I use this word all the time but it gets boring because EVERYONE knows what it means and it’s so easy to pronounce!!!

    • Hi Cindy πŸ˜€
πŸ˜† I had to keep it simple as most of my readers are a letter short of a word πŸ™„
      Ha-Pee Wee-Knights !!
      Ralph xox πŸ˜€

  22. This is fun and I enjoyed your negligee comment even if it was crossed out! Your mind goes in all kinds of directions, doesn’t it, Ralph? Thanks for looking at the serene dream and the nightmare post. I thought that was a weird week in my life!!

    • Hi Robin πŸ˜€
Yes. You could say that my mind goes off into strange realms sometimes. πŸ˜€
I can’t remember the specific post that you are referring to as you write so much and so much happens in your posts, but I do read them. Ralph xox πŸ˜€
