How I Got The Name Of Bluefish Way

When I have published a post I usually let the furore of disgruntled bloggers venting their displeasure and drowning me in advice with intelligent comments die down. Then I start thinking of what to throw at them next. Well, it’s not really thinking , it’s more of a single thought which blossoms into a thing which I publish. ThINKing without the INK. Who would have thought that 133 posts have washed through the brains of my foggy bloggy fraternity. Poor things !!

My idea for this post is exactly what it says in the headline. How did I get the name for this blog ? I had organised my photos and dragged screaming, images from Google Search. Then as I was about to type the first word ……. incoming !! ….. Georgia of BroadBlogsΒ  asked me the same question !! Spooky or what !!

imagesCAA1YUOX

A few months before I entered the hallways of Lord WordPress and Lady Dot Com (they are not married, just living together ) I joined a Forum website and I needed a username. Muddy Boots came to mind as I had just been washing the mud off my shoes.

n1

imagesCAA1YUOX

No way !! I hate mud, or untidiness. My two cats Sonic and Samantha know this and their whole purpose in life, when they are awake, is to scatter their cat-litter stones all over the apartment, pile rugs under furniture and wreck a newly made bed

n2

imagesCAA1YUOX

I racked my brain

n3

imagesCAA1YUOX

Β And there it was in front of my nose all the time. My wind chime !!

n4

BLUEFISH !!

n5

imagesCAA1YUOX

So I was Bluefish in the Forum for a few months when I decided to have a go at blogging. Lady Dot Com wouldn’t allow me to use Bluefish as someone else, with no consideration for me, had pinched my name. So I racked my brain again, which was becoming painful. Twice in one year !! Unheard of !! “There must be a way around this” I thought to myself. “Bingo !! Way !!”

So Bluefish Way was born July 2012

  1. Thanks for sharing how you got your name! The name The Presents of Presence came to me in the middle of the night after I’d already had my blog for awhile. So I just added that piece to Misifusa’s Blog. By the way, have you heard of the name Misifusa in Spain? It’s a common cat name ~ misi, misifu…

  5. Welllll, Ralph it is like this. I had several titles in mind, mind you and wouldn’t you know those tiltles already belonged to other people ya know, as in bloggers. Well I was pi—d to say the least. Since I was paying a WebMaster to help my dumb little self, set this the thing up I had to come up with a name fast since every minute was counting toward his fee, Sooooo, since it was going to be about pets and people and maybe some of my misguided life that became the name of the game. Whew, That was boring as h—!.

I have wanted to change the name to something else but when I set up a new web site for my sancturay I’ll be better prepared and not use a Webmaster. And when I leave my current blog in place I’ll only be adding info and maybe cease commenting. And no, I won’t be giving out my my new web adddress. No one need fear that. Hope to have it in a few months. Really.

It’s a wise thing to keep your name quiet as a friend of mine who is also a blogger told some real life friends of a new company that she was setting up and one of those “so called” friends pinched the name and set up a similar company using it. So mum’s the word !! Ralph xox πŸ˜€

  6. I love your story. πŸ™‚ Well, as you know, I just changed the name on my photography blog and posted the reason for the change just last night. As for my written blog, it has a double meaning. A friend gave me the nickname Rainee and sometimes simply calls me Rains. Since my written blog would include thoughts and experiences stemming from my love of the Bible and my relationship with Jesus, and because I’m not perfect, I thought of how Matthew 5:45 says, “He sendeth the rain on the just and on the unjust,” and came up with ‘Sweet Rains’. πŸ™‚

    • Mystery solved !! Hi Tracy πŸ˜€ I love the name Desertrose as it’s much better than the other name. Why the 7 ??
Your name reminds me of when I was working in the desert of Saudi Arabia 1978-90. A massive trench was being dug across the country for a pipeline and we found huge clusters of Desert Rose similar to these. Ralph xox πŸ˜€

That is a cool story about how your blog got its name. My story is a bit more mundane. So I wanted to start a blog and I wanted to have a catchy name for the blog. After all, I would be blogging about marketing and marketing is supposed to be creative, right?

Well, I thought and I thought and I thought and my mind was a blank. I figured I should just start writing and just use my name. I am glad I did since I’ve had my blog for 3 years now. If I waited for a catchy name to come upon me, I’d still be waiting and there would be no blog yet. πŸ™‚

  36. I absolutely love your explanation of how you got your site name. I had been wondering why you called it that. I called my site http://www.quirkybooks.wordpress.com because I had already bought the domain name http://www.quirkybooks.net. I am quirky and in the future I wanted to write and sell my own books. All books would be written from a different, quirky angle, or perspective, thus, they would be quirky books and sold through http://www.quirkybooks.net. At the moment my http://www.quirkybooks.net site is under construction but under its old layout, there was no option to incorporate a blog and I wanted a blog to go with it. At first I created my quirkybooks blog as a way of practising my writing skills and talking about my favourite topic, writing. I also wanted to find out what type of books readers would be interested in buying on my quirkybooks.net site in the future. Today it is a thriving community of lovely bloggers from around the world. As well as talking about writing, I share photos of places I have visited and talk about my guineapig family. I think it’s important to be able to relate to a writer and their style, by understanding what makes them tick and being able to converse openly and honestly with them.

      • Bless you Ralph. I have never taught an IT or a blog course before. Each person is at different levels and it doesn’t help when there is tech problems and the information I get from WordPress itself is either confusing because it is contradictory or not accurate. I am still remaining positive for the next session.

  37. So interesting to find out the rest of the story.
My blog name ‘1950 Suburban Adventures’ came about because when I began, I had no concept of blogging and thought I would begin an entirely different blog when beginning the 1960s. Now I’m stuck with 1950s in the title.
My user name ‘skinnyuz2b’ is because I was beyond skinny until my mid-40s. Then I progressed to ‘thin’ in my 50s. Now I’m “normal’ but with a little spare tire. Hence, the ‘used to be’ part.

    • Hi Mary πŸ˜€ Thank you for telling me your blog name story. It’s a good title !!
Congratulations for reaching the age of the “spare tyre”. It took you many years to get it, but you made it in the end. Be proud of it and say, ” I did that !!” πŸ˜‰ hehe Ralph xox ;D

  38. I did not wonder about your name. Reading through all these comments tired me out, but was interesting. I simply accept names of blogs as names people like for whatever reason. I guess it is like not asking Mary why her Mom named her Mary.
I have an invisible town inhabited by invisible people and pets who talk to me in an ancient language spoken back in the 1950’s. The name of that far-a-way town is purpleborough.

  40. As you asked I answer you: My true form is not yet clearly visible; my beloved late sister’s heavenly form was immensely more beautiful than her (also beautiful indeed!) earthly form. I use to see much beyond visibility. In life as well as in art. That’s it :)) πŸ’ ✨

    • Hello Li πŸ™‚
How lovely and sad at the same time. Lovely in respect that you can see how your sister is now and sad that she has left this mortal plane. My sister’s life totally revolved around horses, so she is probably permanently riding on the back of Pegasus πŸ™‚
      Take care. Ralph πŸ™‚
