Twiddling My Thumbs !!

The builders have gone !! It’s Friday evening and they won’t be back until Monday morning when I will be woken up with the dawn chorus of the jack hammer. Cockerels and the small twittering birds will cower at the blasting rattle which will resound throughout the village. But I will awake with a gentle yawn. The cats snuggled into me will jump three feet into the air and begin their morning aerobics across my hair and face as if to say, “Please get up Daddy. We want to play with you”.

Sixty hours until that wonderful music, which sounds so much nicer than the teenagers’ noise from their Ghetto Blasters in their cars. Sixty hours to go. Two and a half days of deafening peace. What will I do for all that time?

separatorI could write a poem:

There was a “young” blogger called Ralph

Whose weekend was spent by himself.

He will twiddle his thumbs

Play with his joystick and plums

But he will probably end up on the shelf.

(That’s 448 Followers gone πŸ™‚ )

Poetry aside. I could go for a walk. I am training Star to wear a harness so that I can take her with me ( like you do Sir ). At the moment I am letting her play with it and letting her get used to putting one loop over her head. I think it may be a few days before I can fully harness her as I don’t want my arms ripped to bits. Or I could twiddle my thumbs !!

What would you do in my place for the sixty hours ??

  1. lol oh ralph you make me laugh loved the poem!!!!!! dont be by yourself… go out with some friends πŸ™‚

    • I was so worried about publishing that limerick. Whew !! Thank you so much my friend Nici. Going out with friends is a great idea. I will get emailing them shortly with this suggestion but not in a way that they may pity me πŸ˜‰ Ralph xox πŸ˜€

  2. Dear Ralph! As an author of so brilliant limerick you ought to create a new version of
“A Book of Nonsense”. But to go out with some friends in much better idea … πŸ™‚

    • What a good idea: “A Book of Nonsense”. Perhaps a book without any pages or the pages in the wrong order or my blog πŸ˜€ Friends seems to be the way to go so far. Have a lovely weekend dear Wanda. Ralph xox πŸ˜€

    • Whew !! Still 449 Tim. That’s 448 in WP and one unknown, which is probably the FBI, the Fluffy Bunny Institute πŸ˜‰ Take care my friend. Ralph πŸ˜€

  3. Well – I’m still here πŸ˜‰
I’m with Nici & say a weekend out & about or friends might be fun.
    xx Abrazos xx

    • Hi “still here” RoSy, my friend. I am so pleased that you still are. Another Friends which is looking good. Maybe I can come visit for the weekend RoSy ? πŸ˜‰
      Ralph xox πŸ˜€

    • What some brilliant ideas my friend. Three teeny-weeny problems with them though. The Book of Nonsense is not written yet and the only other books which are not in boxes are the telephone directory, Oxford English dictionary and the Oxford Spanish to English. I am a dangerous cook and teenagers in their cars I wouldn’t call good music. Otherwise great ideas. Have a fun weekend Krys. Ralph xox πŸ˜€

  4. I would just enjoy the peace and those gorgeous views.

    • Maybe so. I love the views and it’s a shame that all my blogging friends do not live closer to visit and enjoy them with me. You would be very welcome Linda, my friend. Ralph xox πŸ˜€

      • Ralph, I truly believe you and if I could I’d jump on a plane right now and zoom there!

  5. Lovely poem Ralph and I should lay down in my garden if there’s any place left and enjoy the sun while listening to bird melody πŸ™‚

    • I like the sound of that Shiro my friend. Out on the sunlounger listening to the birds tweeting on Twitter. πŸ˜‰ Have a fun weekend. Ralph xox πŸ˜€

      • Hahaha…….. you make me laughing Ralph with birds tweeting on twitter, so nice! Wish you to my friend a magnificent Saturday πŸ™‚ By the way next week I’m coming to Spain, Madrid….. do you live in the neighborhood so we can drink something in Madrid ?

      • I would love to have a drink with you in Madrid but I live in the mountains way down south near Gibraltar. Have a great time in Madrid. A happy Saturday to you too my friend. πŸ˜€

  6. Lovely ditty that you have written. I wrote a little ditty then thought that is was a pity. So I erased that dang thing. Books, dinner or a drive with friends sounds like a good idea to me. Or can you walk about the village and take photos that you can post on this “here” blog?

    ~yvonne~ xxx

    • Go on Yvonne. Go for it. Give me your best shot. Dittify me πŸ˜‰

I may do a post on the village one day. Ralph xox πŸ˜€

      • Oh well. I just had a superb πŸ™‚ comment and a ditty erased. Or at least it went away so I don’t think it reached your blog.

I hope you do a post about your village. It would make good reading and viewing.

  7. Ralph, I think this should not be a problem for you. This racket just happens right? That should mean you are back where it should be πŸ™‚

    • You mean it’s like a re-incarnation or deja-vu experience. Maybe I was a jack hammer in a previous incarnation and now I have a peaceful life….. until Monday !! πŸ˜‰ have a fantastic weekend my friend YC. Ralph xox πŸ˜€

    • You are so very welcome Nini and thank you my new friend for wandering around this post. Ralph xox πŸ˜€

    • Sheri, my wonderful friend, of the “oh my gosh” kind. Thank you for saving me from the Shelf. I would hate to be an ornament πŸ˜‰ Ralph xox πŸ˜€

  8. Sleep! Sleep! I have 72 hours freedom from builders because on Monday we celebrate the Queen’s birthday. I have concluded in my keen observation of builders on my property that the single most used tool these days is the mobile phone. That’s some thumb twiddling for you. Builders you gotta love them πŸ™‚

  9. I would like to see some photo’s of your neck of the woods! I always find it interesting to see what other countries look like.
Not too much twiddling dear Ralph. You’ll go blind.

    • Too late !! The tour of the village is a great project for someone who can see Tracy πŸ˜‰ Must get back to my twiddling πŸ˜‰ Ralph xox πŸ˜€

  10. I agree… I would love to see the village. I googled it recently and it looks fantastic! I tried to find you leaving your trash bag with no result πŸ˜€
To sum things up… drop the poetry pencil – it’s a risky business πŸ˜‰ – and grab your camera!
Have a lovely, peaceful 60 hour weekend dear **** besos****

p.s.: my pc is about to explode whenever I visit you! I think it’s the gifs…

    • Try visiting here again my exploding friend. I have removed loads of widgets from my sidebar only keeping the ones that I like. Let me know if there is a difference.
I don’t know if I could ever drop my poetry pencil Pelly πŸ˜‰
Here’s the trash bag taking me for a walk. Ralph xox πŸ˜€

      • Oh my! dear Ralph! You didn’t have to remove them for my sake! I only wanted to let you know… It was the reason why I couldn’t stay longer and navigate through your blog… And now it is so quiet like your home during this weekend πŸ˜€
And I love your dadaistic poetry!
Lol!!!! What is that other yellow thing besides the bag you’re carrying? And the brown shirt you’re wearing matches the banisters as the 2 yellow elements! Did you do that on purpose? ;D
        Sooo cute and funny****

      • You have actually done me a service Pelly, as my laptop is a lot quieter now as well. So I must thank you for that πŸ˜€
Of course I did it on purpose …. not !! I think you are referring to half a yellow map pin that I can use on Google Earth to locate a place that I wish to mark.
Have a fun weekend my friend πŸ˜€ xox

  11. Why not go walkabout and take some pics of your neighbourhood? I also think you should write a few more limericks. You have talent. πŸ˜€

  12. I want a cat with a harness to take for a walk. With the time I would try to read, have a siesta or two

    • Hi my friend πŸ˜€ I would love too as well. I am finding it very difficult to hold and clip the harness to Star as she wants to wiggle and chew it while I am trying to click the very tiny connector together under her tummy. It may take a few days to just get her used to it. The weekend is now over and the builders and electricians are here cutting brick and concrete. What a noise !! I hope you have a lovely week Ella. Ralph xox πŸ˜€

  13. Dear Ralph it’s a pity that you don’t live close to Madrid but who knows for the future. I nominated you for ” The Super Sweet Blogging Award ” ! If you are interesting you can check out for rules at my blog, wish you a very Sweet Monday πŸ™‚

    • You never know what will happen in the future Shiro my friend, and thank you for the kind thought of an award but I don’t do them. Thanks for thinking of me anyway which is really sweet of you. Happy Monday !! Ralph xox πŸ˜€

  14. Hey there Ralph, glad to see you are back in the blogging world (took me a while to realise that, obviously). And that your renovations are in progress πŸ™‚ If I were you, with all that precious peace and quiet, I would sip on a cocktail and enjoy the view…

    • Sounds like a great idea my friend, sipping cocktails, enjoying the view and relaxing. Have a lovely week Alarna. Ralph xox πŸ˜€

    • I spent the whole weekend reading your blog Julita πŸ˜‰ Well, I could of done if I wasn’t diverted by housework, blogging, walking, having my haircut, dinner with friends and best of all sleeping. Ralph xox πŸ˜€

  15. I’m a little late to the party. 😦 I agree with the people said ‘sleep’. Well, anyway you made it through!!!! All is well! You are still standing — and I bet your other followers enjoyed your poetry as much as I did. PEACE-

    • You are never to late for the party my friend. Sleep !! I could do with an hour now, but blog on I must πŸ˜€ I hope you are having a lovely week Wambui. Ralph xox πŸ˜€

  16. Poor Ralph can’t decide what to do.
It’s Sunday and he’s feeling blue.
    He got on his horse,
    Rode ‘cross the golf course,
Now he’s dodging the golfers who sue!

Now you have some ideas for next weekend so you can put your thumbs away for another twiddling day, and do something productive! πŸ™‚

    • What a wonderful limerick. I have got YOU going now MVBF Marsha !! πŸ˜€

Yes, a couple of days to next weekend. Something productive …!… twiddling ?? πŸ˜‰ Have to work on that !! Ralph xox πŸ˜€

      • You ate my comment, Ralph! As I was saying. I’ve been a limerick lover since about 7th grade in English class. Now you can see why my comment didn’t digest quite right, which must be why you swallowed it instead of posting it!

My foot lodges deep in my mouth.
        Conversations keep going south.
        On purpose or not
        Or silly as snot
        Tis nothing my mother allow’th.

Have a great day Ralth πŸ™‚ xoxo

  17. hey ralph, love the joystick and plums line, i look forward to reading more. thanks for reading my words too. best, beth

    • Hi Beth, my new friend πŸ˜€ Welcome !! I can see that you are going to be a lot of fun !! I just know from your comment that you will love the next post which I am in the process of writing. Have a lovely day. Ralph xox πŸ˜€
