100th Post. A New Beginning ??

Wow. 100 posts !! I remember my first post very well. It was a bit like my first kiss which I have to experience full of anticipation and trepidation. I had my first post half written and WordPress crashed for many hours, so I changed my style and wrote a fun post about the crash. I wanted to write about my life and thoughts. Posts with a bit of meat in them, but not too long as most of my visitors are here for 5 seconds max. (Goodbye. See you on my next post πŸ˜‰ )

Some readers memory of my posts. 5 seconds !!
Some readers memory of my posts. 5 seconds !!

So with a nervous hand I pressed Publish. I have been through the traumas and delights of blogging. And what fun I am having with the writing and you wonderful commenters.Β  At one time it overwhelmed me and I just had to switch off my laptop for a few weeks to regain my sanityΒ well that didn’t work. He’s just as mad !! So I am not a sad, lonely bloggerΒ yes he is !!. I am living happily on my ownΒ he is desperate for a woman !! I can do what I like when I like. (Are you still here ??).

So thank you my blogging friends for being fun, lifting me up when I was down or just being curious to see what that idiot is up to now πŸ™‚

OMG. The builders are here !!
OMG. The builders are here !!

On Tuesday this week I received an email from David, my English friend who lives just up the road, saying that he saw Jesus (Blessed be his builders name) who said that he (Jesus{Blessed be his trowel}) will start work on my apartment on Monday (take note: Monday) next week. This is Spain. Okay!!. Nothing is simple and straightforward.Β  Planning permission for the new windows normally goes to the Town Hall for approval. Not in my case!! My apartment is 50 metres outside of the village boundary. So. The papers have to go to Sevilla or Malaga …… 100 miles away ….. for approval via the National Parks to say that my apartment is NOT in the National Parks. Still with me? Cup of tea? This approval could take months if not years. The local Mayor has told Jesus (Blessed be his spirit level) that he will turn a blind eye and Jesus (Blessed be his cement mixer) can start work. Jesus (Blessed be his builder’s bum) is going to start work on Monday, next week . Bored silly? Have a cookie with your cup of tea !!

Two days later, yesterday, Thursday, I left the apartment for our “escaping the vacuum cleaner” day. David picked me up (all quiet, the cats sunbathing on the back balcony) to go to the bank, visit a couple of bars for coffees, a bit of high speed supermarket shopping and home. When I got back there was a hell of a racket in the field out back. And there they were. Builders erecting scaffolding !!!! Hello. It is Thursday !!

In England Monday is between Sunday and Tuesday !!

In Spain ……..Monday ? ……. pick a day !!

So this is the start of 6 weeks of noise and dust.

Can I come and visit you?? Please ??

    • EeeeeeK. I like to hear you eeeeeek S&C πŸ˜‰ I am not exactly homeless. The apartment is quite big and I am living in the Salon and Matrimonial (that’s a laugh πŸ˜‰ ) bedroom which are now basically storerooms, sealed off from the rear half which is being renovated first. Go on. Eeeeek again. Ralph xox πŸ˜€

  1. Well done on 100 posts. First one – there’s a bit of sunshine on the second photo.
Second one – there’s a mouse in the field. Was very difficult to spot any differences πŸ˜‰

  2. Oh Ralph, You are Delicious….ly funny. And You are welcome to come stay with me but, funny to say, your Jesus, must have a twin brother because the outside of my house has scaffolding just like yours. My builder said he would come on a Monday. He came on a Wednesday. Pulled out the windows; put in one new window. Then silence; then mobile phone conversations; then I ask ” Is there a problem?” Shame faced reply,” The angled window doesn’t fit”! Builders and window disappear for weeks. Builder rings. New window is coming on Tuesday. New window comes on Thursday. When is the builder coming I ask? Next Tuesday I am told. Well……….perhaps your Jesus could tell me what is going on. Happy 100th! These stories keep us young!

    • Oh Gallivanta. How can I not refuse staying with you? There is a teeny-weeny problem YOU HAVE GOT BUILDERS !! πŸ˜‰ Jesus (Blessed be his jack hammer) has not turned up today. It’s silent. Quiet. I can hear the birds singing !! I am so sorry to hear about your Jesus (Blessed be his window installation) and I really do hope he finishes soon, for your sanity’s sake. Ralph xox πŸ˜€

  3. Congratulations on your 100th post!!! May you have many, many more! I’m glad you have Jesus in your life — or, at least, a Jesus πŸ˜‰ and, he is still in the same line of work. The view from your apartment is fabulous! I see where you even added some trains — those trains must’ve of set you back a pretty penny — and, they look so real — LOL! This was great fun. Thanks.

  5. Lord have mercy, Ralph. You have the ability to make me laugh ot loud and I laughed all the way through your post. Jesus blessed be his trowel, bulider, bum, and level) had me almost falling off my chair., I can relate to your experience with the Spaniard. I have had Jacob originally from Mexico build things for me. He never once arrived to work on a project at the stated time. Sometimes he didn’t show up for a week or more. But he could build most of he time and sometimes it was good and sometimes the work was not so hot but I accepted it anyway just to be done.

I really needed the laugh this am. In fact it even perked me up a bit for I have been real puny but I think that I might have some years left after taking the prescribed antibiotic.

One hundred posts. My oh my, you are off to a “running start.” But don’t finish the race. You must keep your hoofs on the track. You don’t have to run to finish first. Just run a steady course, more or les. Set your pace. That’s my advice and I’m sticking to it.” πŸ™‚

  10. Ok I am dedicating a bit more time to you! I love your humour Ralph. Well Monday or Wednesday who cares it is day…….. Why do Spanish people bother with calendars?
On the other note… you got me there, your puzzles are far too difficult for me, I had to consult my cat, purring on my lap. He says he can’t see a mouse on it, so he won’t bother. Great help….he is off out!
Have a great day… whatever day it is……and move to London in the meanwhile, I do have a little piece of floor left for you in the frontroom. Also I can offer cold weather, lovely rain, burnt dinners, strange teenagers and a handy cornershop round the corner. What is there not to love…… oh and I forgot me. I am there too and I can make a nice cup of cocoa. That is it….. πŸ™‚
