Desirable Residence:Quiet neighboursI need to get this off my chest straight away ! That’s twice Mr WordPress ! I type a load of words, pressed Save Draft and the whole lot was wiped ! I could clonk you over the head with my laptop ! I feel better now, deep breathing, aaahh.

Today is Thursday. The boy’s day out when the women clean David’s house. We drove 20 miles to Ubrique and visited two supermarkets. I was down to my last can of curried banana flavoured prawns dipped in tomatoes and David had a shopping list from his wife as long as an unrolled toilet roll. Each supermarket had half the town’s population in there, who were only there because they knew we were coming. Children, grannies, all standing, gossiping, exactly where I wanted a few packets of cat treats. They just knew we were coming!! So we got home late this afternoon. I opened the rear door of his Range Rover and an expressly “wife ask” to get bottle of Martini rolled out and smashed on the road.  I got up to the apartment with loads of bags of food, NOT “things”. My neighbour’s wife Toni accosted me on the way up the stairs by handing me a bag of freshly picked runner beans and hanging on my door was another bag of various vegetables from Ana. Thank you. It’s the time year when the Spanish gardens are full of vegetables and the locals very kindly give me bags and bags of their crops. It’s very kind of them. So for the next three weeks I’ll be having runner beans with a full English breakfast, tuna and mayonnaise plus runner beans for lunch and so on.

I managed to get all the bags in the apartment without my cats escaping. They, of course, dived into the bags to play and ripped everything to shreds. The neighbours across the road were playing Spanish Folk music full blast. Now I don’t know if you have heard Spanish Folk music. The guitar is beautiful but the singing is awful, sounds like the singer is having a hysterectomy without an anesthetic. The heat in the apartment was unbearable and it was coming up to 3pm, my deadline for publishing. That’s it, I thought, and I jumped onto my bed and sank in to a beautiful dreamlike siesta. Bliss !!

  1. Bliss indeed … how I ‘envy’ you!

      • LOL -:)! There is not as you well know … only daily grind! So I ‘envy’ on few accounts; have escaped daily grind, living in sunny corner of the world and in Europe … you got the picture!

      • As I said to Lori and I will say to you. The siestas are on me !! Happy bliss, Daniela 🙂

  2. Hilarious! You made it home on time for your siesta. That truly is the most important part.

    • Yawn !! Yes, Lori, very, very important. In fact we generally had a good day, but the siesta was worth coming home to. Do you siest ?

      • Whenever the chance appears, which is often now-a-days. I always tried to convince my boss how important it was, but he wouldn’t go for it. That made me sad.

  3. It is so hot, and no relief in sight. No breeze either. And wildfires and smoke everywhere. Welcome to North Central Washington in August. And now, with your encouragement, I’m off to a nap.
Wish I had some runner beans.

  4. Same here Teresa, no rain for weeks. Night night. I’ll send you a bag of runner beans by email. 😉
